    TECHNICAL SPEC

Hi, I want to know if the amplifier in my beolab 8000 is rated at 4ohm or 8ohm at 143watts. I also want to know the Xmax of the 4" woofers in the speakers and finally i want to know the thickness of the aluminium sheet used for the enclosure so that i will be carefull.

    Re: TECHNICAL SPEC

You don't really need to know whether they're 8 ohms or 4 ohms. They're active speakers, meaning you don't need to worry about the impedance.

XMax again is something you don't need to worry about, only speaker manufacturers need to know this. As the volume is turned up, the xmax is decreased because a high pass filter is increased in frequency as you drive them harder.

Can't give you an exact figure of the thickness of the aluminium, but on the old forum somebody posted a picture of a section of the BeoLab 8000 aluminium body, and it looked thick enough. Can't give you a figure though. Again, not sure why you'd need this information...

They are very good speakers though! If you think they're impressive for their size, I'd suggest you get a chance to listen to some BeoLab 3s!

Hello, I have a question. One of my Beolab 8000 speakers just died - no red light, no power.

Is there a power fuse inside? Is that something I can replace myself? How do I open the speaker to see inside?

There's no dealer where I live, and it's kind of expensive to ship this for repair. I would appreciate your answer.

Hi Phil and welcome to BeoworldSmile
Might be a daft question but have you checked the fuse in the plug that goes into the mains socket on the wall (if you are in UK)?

The service manual is now on site here - you will need to join as a silver or gold member. It has full circuit diagrams - and yes, there is a fuse!
