    Beocenter 2800

My lovely record player needs a new needle.  But since getting the last one, I understand that B & O don't make the needle cartridges any more, and that what happens now is that you send the whole arm away and have the needle tipped.  Can anyone tell me the best place to send it to?

    Re: Beocenter 2800

Hi maggieB and welcome to beoworldSmile

The quick answer is don't bother getting it retipped, it is very expensive to do and will have no gaurantees as to the state of the internals of the cartridge. The suspension on this will have deteriorated over the years leaving it prone to failure.

Easily the best bet is to buy a new item from soundsmith here any of the MMC20** range will fit your beocenter. This company are the official licensed manufacturers of all B&O cartridges since they stopped making their own. Prices start quite low (less than a retip) with the MMC20E and go all the way up to the MMC20CL. They are hand built and fully warranted for 12 months. Many beoworld members, including myself, have bought from this company and all agree that they reproduce sound better than the original B&O items but the actual cartridge bodies aren't quite as refined.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.
