    Updating software chips in Beovisions

Is it a reasonably straightforward job to update the software chips inside my MX7000 and LX 6000 Beovisions? What are the advantages?

Most software changes are to correct small errors and allow newer equipment to be connected. Have you any thing that the TVs won't do? If not, I would leave well alone! Laughing I don't play around with TVs as the voltages inside can be lethal!

I've a Beovision Avant model 8111 which does not recognize the TV and most VRT functions. It's likely that the E-EProm is partly damaged because of flash.

Does anyone know how to get a new programmed prom or a software update to burn a new prom?

These should be available from you dealer as a spare part.

I think, it depends on the current version, but IMHO, it's not an easy question, because, for example, I can use only one version (and not the last one!) to use all the functions I need...

Re: Updating software chips in Beovisions

The 6000/7000 are relatively similar for the purposes of this question. The task involves dismounting a logic board and prising open a small tin that shields a certain area from interference. Within lies the EPROM to be replaced. There are special tools to remove this in an absolutely straight fashion, because the risk is that you will bend some of the many pins. But you can also use the blade of a flat screwdriver, gently, on either sides, until you rock it out.

The real problem is that TVs contain dangerous voltages even days after they are unplugged, as well as the fact that the fragile CRT neck is in a vulnerable position during servicing.
