    Beosound 4 V beosound 9000

    hello all

i have been planning to buy a new stereo for a month now and it was out of a second hand 9000 or a new beosound 4 now, i could not decide but i went ahead and bought the 4 on an impulse buy.

I cannot decide if i like this unit

i know the 4 has SD card and DAB radio but it just does not look as sexy as the 9000.

i keep thinking that after the new year i may try and swap it for a 9000 but i cannot decide.

    please help me.

i liek them both the same but the 9000 looks nice but is not very up to date but the 4 is up to date but i think its sexy but oh i dont know

i also think they shuld bring out a 9000 with SD card and DAB that woudl really throw a spanner in the works as i cannot afford a brand new 9000.

    HELP Please

pro's and con's etc, opionions woudl help

The advantage of the 9000 is the digital out. I agree it also looks very special. It is however getting old and the display is quite limited especially if you are using N.Music.

The BS4 is obviously a cheaper model but it has a quality feel to it. I do like the soft touch finish. Given a straight choice, I would have a 9000 but in fact chose a BC2 rather than either.

    Something you won't need.

Get a Bs4 it will suit your needs better.

You only need a digital output it you would connect BL5 (or BL9) to the BS9000, as the other speakers don't have a digital input. It provides the speakers a better signal.

The display on the BS9000 is very small, so it won't display song names etc if you are using N.Music.

I am a great believer in following one's instincts and it seems to me that your instincts were to buy the BeoSound 9000, which is why you now find yourself questioning your purchase that was done on impulse only. I prefer the BeoSound 9000 but then I am completly bias because I have just bought one. It was certainly the styling of the product that sold it to me above anything else. I love it and think it is a B&O classic in every way a product can be. Having said that, don't be too regretful of your decision just yet. Spend some time using the BeoSound 4 and see if it grows on you but, if you keep thinking . o O ( Should I have or shouldn't I have? ) about the BeoSound 9000 then your answer is, "Yes, you should have."

    All the best.

BL9? Not sure about that, but personally i would like both, the functionality is good on a BS4 but the design of the BS9000 is classic, and very elegant. The way it moves, it's just something awesome to watch.

You are right, BL9 does not have digital in.

    Re: Beosound 4 V beosound 9000

Even with BeoLab 5s, a BeoSound 4 will perform fantastically. Using a digital connection will give improved sound, but it's not a 'huge' difference. BeoLab 9s do not have a digital input.

I'd personally choose the BeoSound 4! I just prefer it overall. The floor stand isn't so fantastic though, but you can get an adapter from STBBrackets.co.uk which will allow you to use a BeoCenter 2 stand instead...
