    Beolab 1700

My Beolab 1700 Amplifier is (hopefully) being repaired but just in case not possible I have the chance of a Tuner/Amp 2300 is this a good/better  option - has anyone had any problems with theirs? Thank you for any input available.  meekablue.

    Re: Beolab 1700

A strange beast and qute rare by all accounts. It was basically a cross between the beomasters 1900 & 2400 and only released in the UK if I remember correctly. It doesn't have remote control though so my personal choice for ease of use would be the 2400, although I would own one myself simply for its rarity value. Nice amp though and a design that I particularly like, but as with all pieces from this era it would benefit from new capicitors. I also believe the lamps may need replacing at some point in the future.

Capacitor & lamp kits are available from Beoworld member Dillen (Martin).

    Chris.

The use of metaphors should be avoided like the plague. They're like a red rag to a bull to me.

I have complete confidence that Tim will fix this for you! He says he already has the relevant transistors waiting! I would be pretty sure that Chris is correct and the 2300 could well need repair itself and it is quite a bit more complex than the Beolab 1700.
