BeoVision 7 32" increasing contrast backlight

I have a problem with my BeoVision 7 32", 2,5 years old (bought used) as it shows some film sequences much too dark. I have red that increasing contrast backlight in the service menue from 146 to 160 can solve this problem. Has anybody done this yet and what are the experiences?

I'd be interested in this as well, because my BV7-40 mark ii has the same problem, and the default values for picture make it practically unwatchable.  Does anyone have the ideal picture settings for my model (colour, contrast and brightness)?  I know that Which? now provides this infor for all TVs it tests (excellent!).  I think this would be a really good idea for B&O models as well.  Any info?

    Hi,

I have the same problem with my BeoVision 7-32 mkIII, so I am interested in this topic as well. Any chance you could forward the solution to me as well? Thanks.

    BR,
    Lars.

Re: BeoVision 7 32" increasing contrast backlight

Sadly I don't think there's a solution for the darkness you see in films, when you watch via the DVD. I can watch the same film on DVD (and it's almost unviewable, as it's so dark), then watch the film on BBC HD or Sky HD and it's brighter, sharper and far easier to watch. Which implies it's an issue with the DVD player and/or how it decodes and displays the movie content.

Spoke to my dealer about it and their answer was a simple 'the film was designed like that and BBC/Sky simply up the brightness' blah blah. Not true as if you watch the same DVD through an Playstation 3, the quality is closer to that of BBC/Sky than that of the BV7 DVD player, implying it's definitely an issue with the player.

According to a couple of posts here, the BV7-40 MKIII doesn't suffer from this problem and the DVD playback is supposed to be superb.
