    Philips CDM 1 on Ebay

    Friends:

Anyone looking for a CDM 1 laser? It is not my listing, I've never dealt with the seller but if you need the part, it is a reasonable price.

Would this fit in my Beocenter 9000?  It's cd player hasn't worked for sooooo long.  Does it matter if it's 110 or 220 volt beocenter?

    Guy:

CDM 1 goes in CDX but not sure not likely for 9000. Graham perhaps you can confirm?

The only difference between 110/220 systems in general is the power transformer (assuming that it does not support multiple voltages). Everything else after that is the same.

There are people here that know how to repair the CD mechanisms on the component level. If interested perhaps you can ask for a reference.

    Regards,

Yes, it looks like the one used in the good old 14-bit Beogram CD X (where it practically never fails, check those caps !).
It will definitely NOT fit in any newer players.

OK guys...thanks Smile.  Are there any "other company" cd players that I could swap the cd mechanism into my BC 9000?

I think you are better off sending your unit off to one of the specialists here (either directly or ask for referal). These things are old, and as Martin and others have pointed out it could very well be capacitors that have gone bad. Any "swap" you may do will likely be prone to the same problem or may exhibit it soon. The key is finding someone that knows how to repair the pickups at the board levels since B&O is no longer able to provide replacements.

Also swapping is not easy. This is because the cosemetic piece (the black bottom plate) is glued onto the top of the CD transport. Swapping the assembly will involve transfering that piece over. Its not as straight forward as plug and replace.

OK...thanks Derek.  I hope someone here in North America is interested one day in having a look at it.

I didn't know that you are located in NA. If interested send me a private message I know an authorized service depot that will debug on the board level.
