    who needs photoshop anyway ?

    http://www.naked.la/light/

apparently this is the cutting edge in graphical apps and it's os-x only , shame the beta's been pulled due to bandwidth problems , but from what i've read it looks pretty staggering

reminds me of live picture - that was a clever program

i'm also using pixelmator on my mac as photoshop elements and photoshop 7 no longer work , it's quite good if lacking a few niceties , check out the demo - but i'd advise against purchase until it's 100% stable

Re: who needs photoshop anyway ?

Thanks for the link and info.

I've been looking for Photoshop alternatives,
as i don't really feel like spending  $ 1600,- again (like i did a few years ago for PS on Windows)
After having switched to Mac, which i'm happy about, there still are a few programs that i'd like to run on the Mac as well,

i've looked at several open-source programs, however since i'm still quite new when it comes
to installing software on Mac, so i not sure how to do that.
I bought VM ware to run Windows software on the Mac, thought i might install Photoshop (for Win) on Tiger 10.4.

Do you have experience with running VMware Fusion or Bootcamp ?

There's an online alternative, if you're poor or have to edit pictures from a computer without PShop : http://www.splashup.com/

i don't think it's so much aboot being poor as not enjoying being ripped off

adobe are a lot like microsuck in that they fleece their users with 'upgrades' that don't actually add much to the product , ironically quark used to be the same way until indesign kicked their butts

basically , corporate complacency = customer complaints

elements does 90% of what most users want for 10% of the price - no wonder they're holding off releasing it for os-x , why sell us something affordable and capable when they can con us into forking out on something totally ott and slow as a a snail ?

Both work very fine... and you can even use Fusion to run the Bootcamp partition.

I have tried Parallel, but Fusion is much better.

A tip : I bought Photoshop 4 with license for 30$ on eBay; and upgraded it for 220 euros more to CS1, who said adobe was expensive ?

That idea had crossed my mind, however the license i have
of Photoshop 6.0  is for a Windows-based version.

When upgrading, should i install the Windows-based
version on my Mac first (f.e.Bootcamp or ..) to be able to "upgrade software" ?

You cannot upgrade a Windows licence to a new OSX one, or vice versa...

If you don' t mind working through Windows, then, a bootcamp windows should allow installation, then activation of license; and in the end the upgrade.

    Thanks, that's what i thought.

I'll install the Windows-version of Photoshop- on my Mac and upgrade from there.

    Thanks all for your input.
