beogram 4000 Tone arm skating problem

Hi I recently bought for repair a beogram 4000, its in great condition but was in a sorry state inside.

having repaired a beogram 4002 I thought I would give this a go.

The main problems I have are that the tone arm lowering mechanism needs adjusted as it has stuck, it works now and again, but I am working on this.

The main problem is that the arm assembly scans towards the middle of the record sort of scating, the motor pulley that that drives the arm along seems to turn continuously instead of pacing itself to move the arm along at a slow rate. Can anyone offer advice on this?

     Thanks

    Kevin

Have you downloaded the service manual? There is a good flow chart section in there.

Re: beogram 4000 Tone arm skating problem

    Hi thanks

I have got the manual and also for 4002, as I did look through the manual for adjusting the arm but I cant see anything to help with the skating motion.

the skating problem, I am pretty sure this is fixable and is the tone arm, as an interesting note, I adjusted the spring loaded mechanism as the manual said and now the magnetic coil system makes a rattling vibrating noice just as the arm is about to drop, im sure this is due to the system being stiff. Hope I can find a solution to this as I want to get this up and running.
