MX / ME Expert Needed - Buying Advice

    Hello MX/ME experts,

Being a dunce when it comes to the MX range, can anybody offer any advice on a MX6000, MX2000, ME6000 or a MX5500 as a possible purchase for a bedroom TV. Which is the one to go for? How much should I pay? etc, etc.

    Thanks

    Ian

We have an MX5500 as a Bedroom TV and it is perfect for the job. Connected to a Freeview box the picture is superb, even now. One thing to remember about the MX2000 is that it uses the older Beovision Terminal (Mars Bar) remote. Where the others use the Beolink1000 or Beo4. If you have any other B&O equipment in the Bedroom it may mean having 2 remotes around. One for the TV and one for the other equipment.

No contest - MX6000! The MX2000 is not actually a B&O chassis and neither is the ME6000, coming from Nordemende and Philips respectively. The MX2000 also uses the older remote codes and I doubt there are that many ones working well for sale.

As far as price is concerned, very variable! These are quite big sets and have been replaced in the nation's affections by LCD sets - more fool them! A couple of hundred for a good one is a fair possibility - the ME6000 and MX2000 should be under £100. Well under!

Instead of MX2000 or 3000 (21") look for MX3500, 4000, 4002 (has master link) or 4200 (ML as optional)

Instead of ME6000 (28") Look for MX and MS6000 (MS has no link an one scart connector) or MX 7000 (active speaker better sound)

I have to agree. I have bought a perfect MX 7000 and beo 4 for 375 euros (about 250 pounds) about one and a half year ago. The image it produces is still superb and the sound is very good too.

Beoworld's twenty-eighth ninth prize winner and fifty-first second prize winner. Best £30 I've ever spent!

Go for MX 6000 or 7000. I have the MX 7000 in my bedroom and it's fantastic!!

MX7000 are something of a bargain with active speakers. I have one down stairs and just bought a MX7000 for my parents. The motorised base sets them off, I have a minty LX 6000 in the bedroom. Try and find a mint MKII.

    Kind regards

I would avoid the ME/LE models. They are not B&O, and the quality is not near that of MX/LX/MS/LS models.

If you think on expanding with link at sometime the MX/LX is the only sensible option.

    Living room: BV7-40 mkIV + V8000, BL5, BL3, BM1 and BS9000. Bedroom: MX3000 and BL4500 on MCL2-AV. Around: PentaIII, CX100 and MCX35 on ML/MCL + MCL2-A, BeoPort and BL4 on ML, BS3300 + M75 as stand alone, BC6000 + BC600 and BT1100, LC1, LC2, Beo4, Beo5 and BL1000, BS2 and A8, EarSet2, Apron, Coffee mugs, Enamel Bagdes, Bath towel, Keyring, Books, Lots of miniature and the Bottle opener. Office: BC2300 + BL2500 and BS3. Summer house: BS Century.

    Addicted? Oh no.... ;)
