    4x Beolab 8000´s and 2x Beolab 2 !!?

I´m thinking of  purchasing a second set of Beolab 8000´s and a second Beolab 2, and i´m going to use them only as front speakers!

= 4x Beolab 8000 and 2 x Beolab 2 for stereo listening only... I think the sound would be pretty impressive with this setup!?

( And everyone think buy BL5 or BL9!!!,  but why go with the main stream and think rationally when you can go against the stream and think irrationally Wink

So what are your thoughts about this crazy setup!?

    Please tell me...=)

I see 'only' one potential danger: you obviously like the speakers and this - after acquiring the second front pair - might turn into addiction. After adding more and more pairs you finally hit the proverbial wall, in that the number of speakers you can add is limited - if I remember correctly to 10 pairs? What are you going to to then ... I think the combination of BL8000+BL3 are better, because BL3 has less bass but better treble. In Spanish Forum, Luigi has this configuration and he thinks is better.

Like you Fredrik, I like the 8000's very much, especially the design. In my opinion the BL2 is a bit boomy for listening to music, but great in a surround sound setup. The BL 5 or 9's have better performace, though. The big question is: Would more of the same sound better than the BL 5 or 9's. Probably not. But I am curious.

If you like the sound of your 8000s that much, I see no problem to get a second pair. But I doubt a second BL2 will add anything to the sound.

I know this might not interrest you, but have you noticed that when you add the value of your potentional setup (4 BL8000 and 2 BL2), you arealmost at one pair of BL5, which are, I think you have to agree too, a completely other league.

Was he last sentance on your post imeant to be  a subliminal message!

Obviously, speakers are a personal thing, we have had comments on  previous postings  as to how good the 6000 are!! so that proves the point.

From all technical  aspects and to the majority of ears the bl9  is generations away from the 8000. The thought of 2 bl2 when one on its own falls down so badly for music- at least to my ears would be a mistake. You might even find that 2 together have a cancelling effect.

Rather interstingly, when i had 8000 and a BL2, when the bl2 went i rediscovered what stereo was- the bl2 makes the imaging dissapear- at least for music.

So the advice is sell one pair of 8000- keep the other pair for nostalgic reasons, aviod the BL2 and get BL9- then you should appreciate a balanced natural quality sound.

Because BeoLab 9s would perform to a MUCH higher level. More speakers doesn't mean better sound quality, it just means more sound. A pair of BeoLab 2s in pretty much any normal sized room would sound stupidly boomy, so I'd avoid it. That doesn't mean it won't work though, I believe Eduard runs a setup like this.

As I say though, BeoLab 9s aren't exactly main stream, but the reason they're a popular choice at the moment is because of their incredible performance standard...

    Hi Fredrik,

I'm a total bass head and have two BeoLab 2's myself, but I really wouldn't put them in the same room.

Apart from being unnecessary and overpowering, if you don't get the location, distance and angle correct between one Lab 2 and the other, you will end up with less bass and some nasty sound - because one will cancel the other out.

The facility on the Mk3 BV7-40 to use two subwoofers is really only for large rooms, which mine isn't.  In the right room, adding a sub to the rears can be a great effect, but that really is a big room!

The best difference you could make to the sound is, as people are saying here, changing your speakers not adding a sub.

However, 7.1 surround sound is AMAZING!!  I heard it at the dealers, just with the BSYS-3 upscaling normal 5.1 audio, and the difference was fantastic - so you could consider adding another pair of speakers to the surround mix.

Oh, I just realised you are talking about stereo listening only!

No, just don't do it!!  The BeoLab 2's would be far too close together and would not produce any kind of positive effect.

Can't see why you would need that much as fronts, when indeed there are better speakers that would make an incredible difference.

With such an awesome TV, how come you haven't got surround sound set up?

I think another pair of 8000's at the fornt won't make that much difference compared to a single pair 8000's. You only get more sound but not better.I you wan't a better sound you need to buy bl5.

Just for stereo listening? Surprise Didn't read the initial post thoroughly enough!

Definitely not. You'll end up with all sorts of strange things going on, comb filtering, phase distortion, and among other things, more chances for resonances and standing waves.

Honestly, get a pair of BeoLab 9s or 5s, you will not look back. More BeoLab 8000s will result in LESSER sound. Believe me.

I´m not stupid, it was only a crazy idea... I think the optical impact would look great though...

(I don´t like the design of BL 9 or BL 5)

So everyone can relax i don´t going to buy that setup....

If you don`t like the design of BL 9 or BL 5, get the BL 1 second hand. They will offer a signifficant sound improvement, and play LOUD!

Yes i was thinking of the optical look with 2x 8000:s on each side of my BV7 and two BL2`s... I think it gonna look impressive and sound loud but no HiFi-sound, just for the impact .

I buy the BL 9´s when i get tired of the BL 8000 + BL 2 setup... I like the sound of BL9, but not their appearance in a room thoug...=(

BL 1= I like them but the sound are a little to "clinical", and they are going to be to big in my apartment i´m afraid of....
