Re: My trip to visit Beoworlder, Ed in Holland...........Photo's by Andy T.

    Thanks KeithSmile
Yes, I think my dealer's initial allocation was just three units.
As for the watch gift, I hadn't spent a penny in Fred's shop and am unlikely to in the future. I asked Ed how he got it and he said he just asked!
Apparently it's a "Dutchy thing", if you don't ask, you don't get.

Sorry Ed and Anders, I didn't know the ......dots where that important.

    Poor me, never win owt!

Re: My trip to visit Beoworlder, Ed in Holland...........Photo's by Andy T.

After our little detour to see the windmill we arrived back at Ed and Monique's.
There were two or three hours before Leon and Tonny (correct spelling) were due to arrive. This was the opportunity to take photo's of Ed's set up, and also to sort out his LC2 light pictures.
Ed has 8 LC2s in his lounge/dining area and another one elsewhere in the house, his bedroom I think.
Up until my visit, he had been setting his lights to the right level, one by one, using 'Lamp' on his Beo4 and 5.
We got them all set to the way he has them for watching TV, then using a Beolink 1000 he keeps in his bathroom, I pressed Light,Store,1,Store. We did the same for a few other scenarios using different numbers obviously. Now all he has to do is press Light ,1 etc.
I think Ed was pleased with the result and I'm sure Monique was.
Here is their Beosound 9000. I really want one of these.

    Poor me, never win owt!

Re: My trip to visit Beoworlder, Ed in Holland...........Photo's by Andy T.

I am just going to digress slightly here.
One thing I forgot to photograph, was one of Ed's Beo4s
Why would anyone want to see a photo' of a Beo4, you may ask!
This one was in a beautiful, handcrafted leather and vinyl cover. Apparently, Fred Baak had a few of these made some time ago.
When I got home, I ordered three of these from Ed Baak in Holland and immediately put one on one of my own Beo4s.
I have listed another on eBay to see if it would be viable to have a lot of these made for selling.
Please go and look HERE to see what I mean.
Before you give me a slapped wrist, Lee, I'm not actually advertising. I'm just guageing the interest by Beoworlders in the product.
If successful, my own version may become available to all of you. I spoke to Fred Baak about this and there doesn't seem to be a problem

    Poor me, never win owt!

The Beo4 in this picture has the cover on it.
This is Ed's lounge. I like this photo', I can see eleven B&O products in it, can you?

Out in the back garden, Ed has what we call in England, a lean-to. He even has B&O out here!

Ed made these speaker covers himself at work I think. His colleagues thought he was building a bird box!

Re: My trip to visit Beoworlder, Ed in Holland...........Photo's by Andy T.

Before long, Leon and Tonny arrived to spend the evening.
Monique had prepared the evening meal and we all sat around the table. Romy was quite happy to watch TV while were engaged in deep conversation.
What a strange affair the conversation was! English one minute then dutch the next and sometimes even sentences with a mix of the two!
I don't speak any dutch but seemed to get the gist of the conversation even when it was in dutch. Leon's english is very good and he has a great personality. Ed's english is pretty damned good too.
Amongst the topics of the evening, we spoke about the differences in attitude between our cultures. One of these differences really surprised me.
Dutch people are very liberal and open about many things, but I was amazed to find their opinion on ultrasound pictures of the unborn.
In England, when a lady goes for a scan, she will quite happily pay money for copies to show friends and family.
I know that when I got a copy of my grandchildrens scans, I couldn't wait to show as many people as possible. All my pupils saw them.
In Holland, it is quite a different matter. These pictures are regarded as very, very personal. They are only usually shown to the husband and in some cases the lady's mother. Certainly not all and sundry!
Another thing that the dutch don't like to discuss is their salary.
Here we are at the table.

Romy made this for us, bless her, she's only eight. More artwork than sustenance!
If you see this, Romy then "Cheers, and Danku"
Notice two LC2s on the wall.

Re: My trip to visit Beoworlder, Ed in Holland...........Photo's by Andy T.

After we had finnished eating, I decided to make the coffee. I wanted to make it the way I have it at home and enhance it with a touch of Soberano (Spanish brandy)
Big mistake, Andy!  It's quite difficult to make a long cup of coffee with the Senseo machine and not a kettle.
Poor Leon ended up with a cold brew and, although they all smiled and said how nice it was, I could tell that it wasn't really their cup of tea!

    Poor me, never win owt!

When we had had our coffee and left the table, I asked if I could take some photo's for Beoworld. Nobody minded, so here they are,
    This is Leon and Tonny.

Here is my host and hostess, Ed and Monique.
Ed looks like a ventriloquist's dummy on this. Looks like Monique is working him from a stick up his back!

And this is all four of them together, all being relatively sensible, so far.
    Lovely people, all of them.

Please feel free to make comment then I know, at least some people are reading this post.

Now, my camera has a little remote control, so I thought it would be a good idea to take a picture of all five of us together.
Unfortunately, we all had to squeeze closely together in order to fit on the photo'. Doing this caused me to take up a position that makes me look like I have some weird kind of deformity.

    Embarrassing photo'!Embarrassed

I then realised that I could put the camera in the kitchen and take a better picture through the hatchway.

Andy I can tell you the Germans also don't like talking about their salary, but they do like to show off how expensive things were.

I found it quite helpful here in Blighty to know what my superior for instance is earning.

Excellent Thread Andy, glad you had such a fantastic weekend with such kind people.

    Kind Regards Toby
I better do my bit and suspend my siggy.
