    BEOSOUND 6

    Hello,

I just wanted to say that the Beosound 6 will be launched this Holiday season and  be at a price of $600. Don't know how much the UK will charge though.

I have to say really disappointed with the design and only wish that David Lewis could have designed !!! He would have done a much better job !

someone i know quite well has heard it and claims that the sound is quite amazing. Apparantly there is some software in the device that can upscale mp3's to cd quality. All of a sudden i' really excited about this thing.

I don't know what to make of the beosound 6. It isn't ugly but sadly not that pretty either. The worst thing is maybe that it's just not special enough for B&O. I guess the proof of the pudding is in the listening in this case. Let's wait and hear...

Is the Samsung YP-Z5 the same (except minor finish differences)?

I believe the Beosound 6 is based on the same hardware as the Samsung mentioned here. Difference is that B&O is supposed to have developed an algorithm that enhances the sound. Samsung uses its own algorithm. I am not completely sure, so can anyone confirm or correct?

This is correct -  It has been tweaked by B&O to improve the standard MP3 player level of performance.

I've heard it, and it sounds stunning.  Made my ipod shuffle sound broken ( both via A8's)

It comes supplied with A8 earphones, a nifty leather carrier, and will be c£350 - £375 in the UK, so in effect the actual player is c£250.

Due in shops in the next 5 - 10 days.

    Thanks for the update David,

compared to the price of the BS2 it certainly offers good value for money although it isn't any where near as stylish IMO.

MP3, or any other 'compressed' audio for that matter cannot be scaled back up to it's original quality. You can have a go at it, and improve the sound, and there's heck of a lot you can do, but ultimately, it's like taking an out-of-focus image of a picture, and then going round the edges with a pen to try and improve or sharpen the image, it's not quite the same...

It´s in danish shops. I´ve seen and heard it today. I think design is far better in flesh. It´s quite light and very nice. Sounds great. Easy to navigate. Covers in background and album / artist name runs over the screen.

    It´s not magic - it´s Bang & Olufsen

    Re: BEOSOUND 6

I'm looking forward to this. Having recently got one of the new Nanos, I actually kinda prefer just carrying my favourite albums around with me, rather than my entire CD collection.

B&O should come up with something similar to CoverFlow though, it's no way near as much of a gimmick as I first thought. I almost always choose my music through CoverFlow, and it hasn't worn off. Browsing through a list of music seems so dull in comparison to seeing each album flip past.
