Re: beogram rx2 dustcover assembly question

    Welcome to Beoworld !

Normally, I would have adviced you to get the service manual but, knowing the deck and manual, I'm afraid the service manual will be of no help as it merely shows the parts breakdown and not the assembly procedure.

Please let me know exactly, do you have the lid and all
hinge parts taken completely apart or is the lid with hinge just
    dismounted from the deck ?

     Hi Martin

I have all the parts, the plastic dustcover has the long black metal hinge attached.  I believe i know how to place the metal spring back in the black hinge so the "arms" of the spring are inside the plastic dustcover with the ends pointing down (and the little rollers underneath)

The problem is installing the dustcover back on the turntable, I cant seem to get it flush enough with the turntable base. (The holes for the 3 metal grommets are only halfway clear)  Also i am not sure if i should install the two small black metal hinges before or after placing the dustcover assembly back on the turntable.

It seems the metal spring is somehow preventing the hinge from seating flush against the turtable base.

Hope this is not totally incomprehensible,  link to some pictures

    Thanks for any suggestions    Marcus

    Marcus,

    Nice photos !

You are not the first with this problem, I remember facing
this problem myself once but I don't remember the solution.
Something with the springs, I think.
I will take a Beogram apart this weekend and check.

Re: beogram rx2 dustcover assembly question

    OK,

Hard to explain but here goes...
Put the lid together (lid, hinge bar, spring, brackets, rollers and the two long rods).
Mount it as far as it will go down (half a hole visible).
Make sure the two rollers are as far up the lid as they will go.

Problem is that the two long rods are now resting on the top rear
rail of the plastic chassis rather than fit into the groove right in front of it and we will have to rearrange them.

    Now comes the tricky part;
You need to place two fingers (I used index finger and the next) so
that they press the metal hinge bar backwards and another
finger (I used the thumb) on top of the lid, pressing down and forward
as if you were trying to "close" the lid and at the same time push it forward and downwards.
While doing this, press down on the whole lid assy to make the holes fit.
    (Attached photo).
You need to do both sides at the same time.
Sounds hard and it is at first but with a little practice you can do it in 5 seconds.

Let me know if that helps.

Photo shows Beogram 2000 but the above also applies to Beogram 1800, 5000, RX and RX2 models.

Party!!! [<:o)] Re: beogram rx2 dustcover assembly question

    Martin

Your awesome! .  Just did it, key was simply to close the dustcover after mounting it on the table, then it just pushes right down the extra 1/4 inch and the 3 mounting holes are clear!!  Ready to enjoy the sweet analogue sound again

I have officially joined the Beoworld fan club!

       thanks again.. Marcus

Re: beogram rx2 dustcover assembly question

    Marcus,

Good job and welcome to the Beoworld fan Club, hope you
    keep hanging around.

For other readers; Sometimes, the lid and hinge bar
are not in a position to allow the lid to be closed
without breaking something. In these cases you'll
have to do the above before closing the lid.
