    BeoSystem 3

I plan to buy a BeoSystem 3 and like to know all about the connection of "non-B&O"-equipment. I will connect: Pioneer Plasma PDP506-XD, the upcomming Reelbox Avantgarde (SAT-Rec with build-in HD-Recorder and DVD-Player from Reel-Multimedia, Germany) and of course my BeoSound4.

I like to control all this units with Beo4. My questions: is this possible? how does this work?, whats about PUC (Peripheral Unit Controller)? can i do the configuration-work by my self? are there pre-configurated units in the system and exist a list of them? whats about the "Ctrl-sockets"?

I'm happy to receive all possible information about BS3, especialy connection non-B&O units and the configuration/setup-work.

    thanks in advance

I have put the user manuals on site - you are silver so can get at them. There are two lists you need to look at - the DVD controller and the STB controller. The big problem is that both tend to list out of date equipment. I would also see what Lintronic can offer in the way of operating your extra equipment as it may be better.

    Re: BeoSystem 3

I am just finalising my set-up at the moment using the Beosystem 3, Pioneer Plasma and a Samsung HD STB and HDD. I now have all working through the Beo4 using Lintronic.

Today i will be trying to find what i need to control the Playstation 3 with IR and intergrate that also.

All works well except for 1 little quirk with speaker switching that io posted elsewhere here.

Playstation 3 controlling over IR? When you find a solution, please let me know. I only got the Info that you need Bluetooth to control the PS3 (as well when you playing BD ).
    thx

Yes, the PlayStation 3 is controlled via Bluetooth, NOT Infra Red. If you can come up with a solution, it would be good to know.

The PS3 has IR functionality as well as bluetooth.  Sony have just lauched their own IR remote for use with the PS3 - have a look at this link - http://www.remotecentral.com/articles/ps3-ir-remote.htm

    Re: BeoSystem 3

purchased an aftermarket stand that connects via usb and has a ir receiver + remote.

All working ok but has limited control. Can't turn the system on/off but can select menu, play, stop, pause, rewind, fastforward s after turning on and putting the movie in, all can now be controlled with the Beo4

The more I learn about BS3, the more convinced I am that is a route I might take....

I'm totally convinced this is the "new" way of planning and purchasing an AV system for the house. Begin with the BeoSys3 control hub, and then attach what one needs to that hub.
