My Beo5 locks into a blinking mode - HELP

    Hey

My Beo5, which has been working fine until now, has developed a strange fault. It starts blinking (both the ball and the screen), and at the same time it locks the keys, and I can do nothing. After 10-20 seconds the blinking stops, due to the dimming function, but I have to wait another 2 minutes or so, before I can turn it on again. While blinking I can see the one of the two IR emitters are lit.

I have been setting it up my self, but the fault does not seem to be connected to any of my "home made" buttons.

    Have anyone experienced anything similar?

    Oh eck!
My guess is that it is something you have done inadvertently, Christian.
You say the IRs are sending some kind of signal, try to find out what, and that might give you a clue as to what you have done wrong.
Perhaps you could try  changing channels or switching between radio and CD with your Beo4 whilst the 5 is blinking and see if it conflicts.
The other thing you could do is to go into the SETUP menu, CONFIG, DEFAULT, STORE and see if it cures the blinking.
Don't worry, you won't lose your custom settings.

Re: My Beo5 locks into a blinking mode - HELP

It does not activate any equipment, TV - BeoSound - light - etc., but at the moment I cannot make it fail. Very strange. It seems, however, that it needed recharging.

I have tried to store the default, but it resat the Beo5 completely. All custom settings was lost, but I have the setup file stored, so no worries. Smile

It is now placed in the charger, as the battery was completely flat. I suspect that this is the real cause, but the behavior is very strange...

I'm shocked to hear that Christian.
Whilst I was pondering your post, I switched between custom and default twice without losing anything.

So I can switch back to custom setting? - Just checked, and the custom settings was "recovered". SurpriseEmbarrassed

I feel like an 80-year old woman: Ohhh my remote is to advanced for me..... Confused (Couldn't find the wall bracket for my EarSet 2, it was hiding in the box. Called the dealer, only to find out that it had been there all the time...)

    Thanks.

    Christian,

In the apparent failing condition was there a small red light visable on the back of the Beo5. If there was, then the battery needs recharging.

Leaving the Beo5 connected to the USB appears to quickly discharge the battery.

    Regards Keith....

Re: My Beo5 locks into a blinking mode - HELP

There was a red light visible in the back, looked like one of the IR emitters.

It is now placed to charge until I get home from work, and I will report if the problem persist, and if it seems to be related to low battery.

Maybe it is supposed to be charging, and it might be a software bug. Like the thing, that you have to turn it off, before it will charge.

I've not yet controlled indeed if the beo5 really charge the battery in USB mode or not... Unsure but I'll do a try.

However I have never been forced to turned it off before put it on charge, and always has charged correctly.

I've finally done the test, and when the beo5 is connected to usb, it charges!!! so what the screen shows is absolutely true.
But the charging is very very slow, only the half of a battery in 8 hours, so 4 times slower than using the transformer charger.

    Regards.

Glad to hear that it does charge by USB. Did not have the patience to see any reaction. Now I know why Stick out tongue.

mine dont lock up but the sensi touch on the glass display sometimes does not react to touch, I also find that sometimes when pressing the hard keys at the bottom of the screen these do not work, so the only way to stop this is to power cycle the thing.

appologies for grammer, i was 2 bottles of red wine down while typing this
