BS4 and A.AUX problems with my sony XBR

A definite newb question so all your input would be much appeciated.

I recently purchase a BS4 and BL3 and absolutely am in love with the system. sitting next to this handsome system is a sony xbr5.

i used RCA cables from the tv to the BS4 and as soon as I get it to A.AUX, the speakers make a very distorted buzz noise and just continue.  This is when the tv is playing a movie so i'm assuming the audio out is outputting sound via the RCA cables.  am i doing something wrong with setting up the A.AUX?  Am I missing something?

Lastly, unrelated to this issue, everytime i turn on the BS4 to play a CD when the lights on the BL3 go from red to green there is a very slight "tick" sound, almost indicating power turning on the speakers, it's extrememly faint, but i wasn't sure if this was expected.

Thank you in advance for all your help.  this forum convinced me to purchase this system and I enjoy it more than the TV.

Hi Can't comment on cables as I'm not technical so don't know correct name although with my sytem BS4 and BL8000's I just have standard audio cable (red plug and white plug).

Re the tick I get the same when switching on or off so presume this is normal

Have you tried to connect a source other than your T.V. to the A.Aux connection. If you have and it works O.K. I would say the problem is with the T.V. Might also be worth trying anothe cable. A few years back after moving some furniture around, I required a longer cable to connect my PC o my system. When I connected a new cable, I had the same problem. Very loud buzzing from the speakers.

Thank you for the comments so far.  I haven't had the chance to check any other input device so far.

I had a pair of monster 400 interconnect RCA cables lying around the house so I assumed that they would work fine.

Why do i get this eery feeling that it's the damn monster cables that are causing this problem?  I might just stop by a local radio shack on the way home and get the standard red/wht cables.  If they work then I'll be extremely happy.
