What is the Config option of Beo4?

Hi, while trying to pin down the problem described in an earlier thread (http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/permalink/53274/57202/ShowThread.aspx#57202) a few questions arose.

What is the "Config?" setting in the Beo4? Is it documented? Does it control the Beo4, or does it affect the controlled unit the way the option setting does? I don't think it would solve my problem, but being an engineer I like to understand how my stuff works.

Re: What is the Config option of Beo4?

Config enables you to setup the Beo4 for a specific product (both audio and video). I believe that it only controls the Beo4.

I have version EE: 3.2 & software SW: 3.0. The config options for video equipment are; MX, AV9000, avant, none and AV5. For Audio you can select basic or BS9000. Assuming that you have the same version and software or maybe different software, but with the same configsettings, you should use the videoconfig MX and audioconfig basic, since you have an MX7000 and a Beosystem 6500.

Using these configsettings I think it should work. If not than the problem should be in the ML / MCL system and I'm sorry to say that I can't help you with that.

    Good luck solving this issue!

Re: What is the Config option of Beo4?

The CONFIG> setting is used to set the Beo4 to work with specific B&O products,
    for example BeoSound 9000.
After CONFIG? is selected, one can choose AUDIO? / VIDEO? and select the specific product.
On some Beo4, one can choose from AUDIO? --> BS9000 or BASIC (other audio products)

    Thank you.

I have two different Beo4. As I don't have the remote at hand right now I cannot check, but as i recall the config choices where 1,2,3,4 etc. Not names of different products.

I think you may be thinking of the "Options" setting rather than the "Config" one.

Regarding what is displayed; i remember (unsure) of older Beo4 versions that had AUDIO 1,2, VIDEO 1,2,
instead of AVANT, MX and so on.

Re: What is the Config option of Beo4?

Ok, I will go home and check this out? I have several Beo4s and believe I tried this on the newest one. The one with DTV,  A.MEM etc. As i recall it had numbers and not product names. But I might be wrong.

In any case, what products does the numbers correspond to? What difference does it make to the beo4?

In other threads I have read about setting config to 2,0,0,2 to put the beo4 in link mode. This doesn't translate well into a video config and an audio config.

Re: What is the Config option of Beo4?

Hi, now I have examined my Beo4s further.

My old one (with SAT, V.TAPE and A.TAPE buttons) displays MX, AV9000, AVANT, AV5 and NONE as video options. BASIC and BS9000 as audio options.

My new one (with DTV, V.MEM and A.MEM buttons) has numeric options. Video 1 to 4 and Audio 1 and 2. Note that the old one had 5 video configurations.

    Thanks for the update,

i have added it to the Beo4 product information
At first, also added the "how-to", however changing CONFIG? might result in that the product to be
controlled does no longer respond in case the incorrect AUDIO? or VIDEO? setting has been chosen.

What does VIDEO1, VIDEO2 and soon mean/ which products ?

I guess for AUDIO? this only applies to BS9000 for one setting,
the other one applies to all other audio products.
