Re: finally I switched.....
don't forget leopard's biggie - time machine impressive stuff that , visually partic. oh and if you want to delete something 100% - use secure delete - that's what the FBI use as they actually use macbook pro's in the field , other built in security options include secure virtual memory , stealth mode when surfing ,you've also got a firewall ( not really nessc. ) and the ultra secure file vault for securing your stuff from prying eyes

Re: finally I switched.....
The Beonic Man: Thanks, any points about uninstalling programs though? Where and how do I install a program? Thanks...
You can use this great tool ->> Clean Apps who is monitoring when you install software so easy to find it when you want to uninstall it. Guy

The Beonic Man:
guy - I didn't keep the iMAC because of the long trip down to the Bath store to return it, I was struggling to come to terms with the fact that I really like this machine and I was trying to fight it. Don't ask me why, its a weird psychology I cannot explain. I have kept it simply because I like it a lot.
Simon.
Then it is a good news that I was wrong; One thing, You won't regret to have switched to this beautiful world. Everything there is EASY GOING, SIMPLE, INTUITIVE. No pain, no hassle, even a three years old child can run an iMac. All my manuals are still there in the box and unopened. I bet you that in as short period of time, you wouldn't go back to Windows. I have Leopard installed recently, so easy to use and very ergonomic, like B&O. With some little pratice, you will be able to come over most little technical issues. Cheers, Guy

to be fair to apple bath , maybe that explains their attitude towards you.. buying a brand spanking new mac and wanting to run vista in it : WTF !!?? HERESY ! akin to buying a bno musicystem and wanting to add some crappy 3rd rate speakers you found in a market sale

I kinda see what flappo is saying, but a lot of first-time Mac users must be like this.

Re: finally I switched.....
The Beonic Man: soundproof - I followed your advice about restarting the MAC and holding the C key while rebooting with the Tiger discs in. I wasn't sure at what point to let go of the C and must have held on to it for about 4 minutes literally! Anyway, thanks for your advice with that because it worked perfectly and I am now able to login with the new account I set up during install. Same as I did the first time. Once you get the spinning "spokes" wheel you can let go of the c-key. A few questions cropping up as I explore my new toy further. iTunes... are you able to change the artwork for a CD if it has been incorrectly done automatically? Select the track(s) you wish to change artwork on. Press Command+i. A pane will open where you can redact both text entries and the artwork. Drag the new artwork in over the old and let go (or if there isn't any, just into the artwork square). The artwork will be changed. I don't want bundled software on my machine unless I decide to put it there. I want to be able to remove it and keep a clean system so I know exactly what is on it. I agree with this point. I'm irritated by the fact that even if I have Word and iWork installed on my computer, I get "new" trial versions installed when I upgrade the OS, and then I have to remove it. If you want to be certain you're getting rid of all extensions, use the uninstall feature of Word Installer. If I right click a program icon and send it to trash, will this remove all associated programs and file extensions as well? Such as .ini and dynamic link library (dll) files in Windows? I want to be sure there are no trace elements on my machine. You'll find lots of free uninstallers at www.versiontracker.com. Including Clean App.

Re: finally I switched.....
The Apple Online store is great. One bonus of doing this is that if you do ever get any major issues outside of warranty, and you feel you should still receive help from Apple (as I did), then you can talk with Apple directly straight away. Because I bought my original MacBook Pro from a store, I had to talk to them first, then talk to Apple, and let Apple talk with the store etc... before anything could even start to happen. Nightmare! Apple Care were very good in the end though, brand new MacBook Pro
