Problems with Sky on a BeoVision 7-40 Mark II
I was wondering if somebody could offer some advice on watching Sky channels (currently having a problem with UKTV Docs channel number 532) on a BeoVision 7-40 Mark II. I assumed that the television automatically callibrates (if this is the correct terminology) the screen to the correct size/dimensions of the signal being broadcast/received. The picture is great but the logo that appears on the top left of the screen is half way off, it needs to be moved (or recallibrated) about 3-5 inches down. Horizontally it seems OK. I notice that my mother has exactly the same problem on an Avant 32 RF/DVD which I bought for her a few months ago. Is there anything that can be done in the menus to change this as I do find it very distracting and annoying after a while. You start to feel that the picture is not being displayed properly and indeed it isn't! I really want to resolve this so all help gratefully received. Thanks. Simon.

Strange, it's fine on my BV7. Logo is located in the same place as, say, the BBC HD would be located - top left of screen. Quality for that non-HD channel is fairly good, I see.

Yup, same setup here, and same problem... To solve this, on the Beo4 press the 'List' button until the display says 'Format' then press 1, 2 or 3 to change the format of the screen. 3 (I think) forces the screen to 16:9 JoC

Thanks for the info JoC. Your suggestion has worked well. However, although the logo (in Format 3) now fits the screen, the new format shows missing space at the top and the bottom of the screen like widescreen, which is still not what I wanted. I want the picture to use up the whole screen, but for the logo to be in the correct position. Has the TV been setup incorrectly by the engineers? Surely this can't be normal. Simon.

If it's only on the one station it would have to be the way they are broadcasting on that network. If on format 3 there is black boarders then i think they (black boarders) are broadcasting them.

Hi, Dont know what kind of setup you have, but to fix a similar problem to what you are describing i had to change the kind of screen (16:9/4:3) and what to do with the signal in my STB. This was for a bv 8/32.
Have a nice weekend...

Thanks for all comments. I will speak to the B&O guys about it when they come to swap the tv over in a few weeks.

Re: Problems with Sky on a BeoVision 7-40 Mark II
To be honest I wouldn't worry about it, the channel (along with several others) don't want to pay more money to broadcast in widescreen, and the TV tries it's best to fit the picture to the screen, which is why the logo is of the top. When you *force* the TV to fit the picture to 16:9 it adds the black bars. And to think channels like FX still broadcast in 4:3... JoC
