On the old forum we had a member called "Penguinni" - a looooonnnggg time ago though. Are you still with us under a different name? Me - "Yorkshire born & Yorkshire bred, strong in the arm but weak in the head" as the rhyme goes. Chris

I bought my CD50 from him - thouroughy nice chap! He actually ended up refunding my money and giving it to me for nothing as it arrived with the tray door flapping loose at one side. I tried to give the money back once I'd repaired it but he wouldn't hear of it. I couldn't believe it Its still playing like a dream and gets regular use.

Legend has it that copper wire was invented by 2 Yorkshiremen fighting over a penny

Thanks for the coordinates Coolskin. I know where you are really well as I am often in Holland golfing and gambling (my other passion) with my best friend. We come over for a week at a time frequently to play at the Holland Casinos. Our last visit, just a few weeks ago, covered Breda, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Den Haag. We usually stay in the Carlton President Hotel in Utrecht as this is right next to the motorway and a good central location to drive to most of the surrounding casinos. Breda is the furthest away so we would normally do that on the drive up. Don't know if you're a gambling man yourself but if you are, have you played the recently introduced Mega Millions Jackpot slots yet? We were playing at Amsterdam in August on the same day a lucky player hit the €1.123.790 jackpot... http://www.hollandcasino.nl/corporate/NL/Spelen/megamillions.htm. It was a very exciting day as you can imagine. I have often popped into the B&O dealership accross the road. We love coming to Holland, some of the architecture you pass through (and under) as you drive to Amsterdam and/or Den Haag is amazing. I also love the attention to detail the cycle paths have such as the good quality tarmac, excellent lighting and signposts used. The government obviously cares a lot about the transportation infrastructure and invests a lot in it. This is a wonderful thing and it shows. Holland is a very pretty country and the Dutch people are so friendly too. We really do love coming over. Simon.

A14BEO:London and New York are CITIES, before anyone gets cocky!!!
Well, I tend do say I'm from Clerkenwell which, assides from being quite trendy, is akin to a village within London. I suspect the same could be said about Greenwich or The Village in New York

Andorra – 1, Bahamas – 1, Bahrain – 1, Belarus – 1, Bermuda – 1, Bolivia – 1, Chile – 1, Ecuador – 1, Ghana – 1, Gibraltar – 1, Honduras – 1, Kazakhstan – 1, Kenya – 1, Kuwait – 1, Lebanon – 1, Lithuania- 1, Mauritius – 1, Morocco – 1, Mozambique – 1, Oman – 1, Malaysia – 1, Saudi Arabia – 1, Seychelles – 1, Slovakia – 1, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands – 1, Uruguay – 1, Virgin Islands (US) – 1, Zambia - 1. I've had a think about this and its not quite as impressive as it first appears! If you look carefully at the locations with only a single member it becomes clear that they can all be plotted on a Great Circle around the earth. Having made this discovery the answer is laughingly easy - they are all actually the same person - Micheal Palin! Simple! - ask me another

Love this thread, and it is indeed amazing and quite gratifying to see where everyone's from. I'll put in my two cents: I was born in Bombay, India, moved to the States when I was a child of four years (to New York City), now living and working in Indianapolis, USA. My father loves B & O but mother rules the roost, so the only thing(s) they have of B & O are a full set of Beocom 6000s (which Mom likes as well, and asked for! imagine that) that I bought as a gift for them for their flat in NYC. -Sal
Love B&O, but no longer addicted.

No. That's actually classed as cheating.

Poor old "Z"s - always last..
I once looked for the very last name in our telephone directory when i was a kid (why i did this i have no idea), and it was (i think) a Polish name - Zywicki. Why i still remember that is beyond me!
Guaranteed to be at the bottom of every register or list that one!
