bc 9500 amp not enough power ?

    Hi Guys,

I have a beocenter 9500 linked to a pair of s45 and a pair of 5700... the problem is when playing at moderate to loud levels the volume reduces as if by magic.

Is the amp not powerful enough ? Do I have a neighbour with a beo4 and a death wish ? Or is it something else ?

    Your thoughts always appreciated.......

your amp becomes to heat and it protects itself for being overloaded. Normally the 9500 supports 2 speakers at the same time so I quess 4 is just to much if you want to play at high volumes.

The 5700 are big speakers and need a powerful amp to drive them plus two other speakers, i'm not suprised its battling. I wouldn't recommend using the 9500 with the 5700 alone. I use BM4400 to drive my 5700. Well thats my thoughts

It may also be worth getting the 9500 serviced - components going out of spec could lead to problems like this.

do you think the 9500 would run the 5700's on their own to good levels if not to full potential?

Yes. The amplifier in the 9500 is OK - about 30 - 40 W RMS so perfectly capable.

    Hi k1ngad,

    I've got a 9500 also...and I love them...but underpowered...here's what i did in a similar situation...and it works beautifully....

Get a DIN to RCA converter and take one of your Powerlink out's to a closet (hidden area)...then run them to inputs to a very clean, powerful amp..(I used a Yamaha M60). Then power 3 sets of speakers at super clean levels to 160 RMS/channel...

    You're 9500 becomes a MONSTER !!

How do you control the volume ? BC9500 @ full volume and Yamaha on different levels or Yamaha on full and 9500 on different levels. Was just wondering because I've read somewere that it was better to have al components between the amp on full volume or something like that...

Re: bc 9500 amp not enough power ?

No problem....the Powerlinks are attenuated....so run those into the standard amp (RCA's)... not an integrated amp.....so it takes the signal right off the 9500....becomes a monster...got my M60 for $170 off Ebay....if you want to really make it pound look for a M80 or M85 Yamaha...and it's an earthquake at 270 RMS super clean per channel....SUPER CLEAN....

We melted down a pair of HPM 150, Pioneers with my M60.....and this was with no distortion...just 5 hours of mild crannking.....pure power melt down.....
