    Development of a Beo5 FAQ

As many of you may be aware, I am a keen supporter of product FAQ's because someone somewhere has almost certainly asked the question you want answered before.

With this in mind, I have started the development of a Beo5 FAQ to be published in the future. I have added some questions and answers so far, but want to open up the request for more questions, and answers, if you have already come up with it.

So, in this thread I am only looking for:-

    • Beo5 questions where you do not have an answer OR;
    • Beo5 questions you had, but now have the answer, so you supply both the question and the answer.

Thank you in advance for your assistance in the development of this FAQ

    Regards Keith....

Re: Development of a Beo5 FAQ

    What a good idea Keith.
I think this will be an ongoing proccess for some months.
We are learning new things all the time. For example I have just worked out the answer to Ed's LC2 problem.
Perhaps a lot of your potential Q&As could be gleaned from posts on this great new forum.
By the way, do you have a Beo5 yourself?

    Andy,

Thank you for your feedback and I can confirm that I do have a Beo5 configured with one master room (Zone) and nine (9) link rooms included in the configuration are LC2's and B&O compatible Lutron lighting controllers. I agree that quite a few questions and associated answers will come from the forum, but also many people come up with questions that do not get to the forum.

When the Beo5 draft Q&A gets to the first 20 completed, then I will provide a link for everyone to review.

    Regards Keith....

    Looks great Keith.
Had you thought about colouring the text to make it easier to choose?

    Hi Andy,

I think that in fact Keith has already thought about this very useful feature, but you know... he must drive 2+2 hours up to his dealer shop and at this moment he has not those 4 free hours (neither do I) so I have to make an appointment with my dealer... late November ! Big Smile

But I'm sure that Keith is a very patient gentleman, just like me. Wink

Re: Development of a Beo5 FAQ

Q: The PC can not recognise the Beo5 when connected - what shall I do?

A: Leave the charger plugged into the USB socket, remove the Beo5 from charger and turn the Beo5 off (press center button for at least 3 seconds). Then replace the Beo5 in charger, it will then power on and the PC should recognise it.

Re: Development of a Beo5 FAQ

Q: I have charged the Beo5 over night, but it only lasts a few minutes. What is wrong?

A: Your Beo5 needs an SW update. Until this is carried out, do the folowing: Place the Beo5 in the charger and press the center button for at least 3 seconds to power it down. The display should read "charging". Leave it there for 4-5 hours.

Re: Development of a Beo5 FAQ

Q: My Beo5 works great, but I can not get it to operate my VCR. Why?

A: There was an error in the setup program for the IR-codes. V TAPE reads "V-TAPE", but it should read "V_TAPE" in the IR-table. You and your dealer should locate this IR-code in the setup program and correct it to "V_TAPE".

Re: Development of a Beo5 FAQ

    Another SW error:

V.SAT should read V_SAT in the edit-section for IR-codes. Please correct unless you have the latest SW downloaded to the Beo5 by your dealer.

Re: Development of a Beo5 FAQ

Interesting to see that Keith hasn't configured the software to have the most used rooms nearer the base of the screen. I have been told that this was the idea, so the user wouldn't have to move his/her thumb too far!!!!

    Muchos Gracias Cool

Re: Development of a Beo5 FAQ

I love my Beo5 to bits, but the weakest feature, in my opinion, is the mute.
I push on the click wheel at the bottom, between red and blue would have been better I think.

    Andy,

You could always add a "MUTE" button on the screen for each product
