    beocom 1401

My sister in law has a 1401 which the dog has chewed!! the cord has been severed very close to the handset. The cost of repair is likely to be nearly as much as a new phone so I'm trying to do a DIY job. Any one have any experience of taking the handset apart? I have got the slides that protects the small switches on the back off and I'm sure the two parts slide off each other but I can't manage to get them apart. Anyone help?
    Thanks

You'll need to replace the handset, unfortunately, the 1401 is not able to be repaired.

Having had a good long look I thought as much. I did wonder whether the two halves slid off each other with a clip mechanism under the small switch cover but my suspicions are confirmed. The dog has won!
    Thanks for your reply David

    Hi !

I also have the exaxt same problem with the 1401's cord severed near the handset. Could anyone tell me how to get the handset apart so i can rewire it? It's just too beautiful to throw away.

        Thank you.

the halves are bonded -likely w/ a plastic-weld adhesive.
they are not intended to be split.

of course, as yours is a complete loss -try razoring around the perimeter until they split.
if you can replace the cord, then try "tenax" or similar to rebond.

oh, and take a pic of the inside! i am sure we would all like to see the guts while one is open.

also, 140x's are often on ebay for good prices.
