jk1002: I mean let's face it, for most of us this will be far to expensive. if it matches the BL5 in price, it would be a 20k$ device, Plus another 20k$ for the BL5 speaker. I am fine with a 10 or 15k for a stereo but going u to 40 is a very long way. For the Berlin event, nobody says it but it can only be the upgraded BV7 with the BS3 in the back. There, I stated the obvious. JK

I wasn't thinking. I am so fixated on TVs, is not even real anymore. Serenata. There, I stated the obvious.

Too late and even worse I posted a link to better pictures of it under the serenatamobile.com thread. Sorry for spilling the beans .... looks very very nice though.

So can it be that it is pretty much a like a huge 2 way remote, with the core of the unit somewhere hidden? Maybe with different mounting options, so I can have it on a stand, on the wall, just carry it around, probably from room to room? JK

I think for JK means is that for the most of us, it's as exciting as the unveiling of a new Ferrari. Beautiful and practically unattainable.

>>Who said it cost $20k US?<< That was posted here earlier, that it would match the BL5 price wise. http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/post/38384.aspx Roger is usually a very reliable source.

Beofan2: I agree that Roger is a very reliable source but I also doubt that BS 5 will cost 20 K US dollars. In the earlier postings we were also talking about a different product with transluant alu etc. But we will all know later.
Translucent Aluminum??? Is that anyting like transparent Aluminum? Scotty's invention from Star Trek IV the Voyage Home? -Sal

I really don't see that price as realistic. Can anybody really justify paying for BL5 twice? How much difference will it actually make on the sound of these already unreal speakers. I honestly don't think it could cost any more than twice that of the BC2, unless...... unless it floats in mid air. If it does cost upward from $28000 AUS, i'll be horrified. It won't sell like hot cakes either!

David, I think you may be wrong. Regardless of the price, BeoSound 5 will certainly sell. We have to remember that many and probably most B&O customers are multi-millionaires that would still buy a BeoSound 5 whether it was priced at $20k, or $40k. This is what my dealer tells me when he sells a pair of BeoLab 5s. I can't wait to see this baby!

Hello, visited my dealer yesterday for planning my B&O AV system for my new house. He told me he was in Struer last week and has seen and played with the BS5. From what he told me it is suposed to integrate Beoport and Beomedia in one box. It has a wheel for controlling all the functions. It is supposed to be revolutionary as they have deposited ten patents for the wheel! The version had a 250GB memory, but it is only an early version. It should come out with the biggest memory available to B&O at launch of the product. He didn't mention any drive, which doesn't mean that there isn't one built in. From discussions it is supposed to be a kind of central digital music storage with access to songs stored on PC. It cannot store videos, only music. As I am planning to buy a BS 3200 he mentioned that in the future I could plug out the 3200 and plug in the BS5 instead and it would work straight away. I will meet my dealer again at the end of next week for my future set-up. I will ask him more questions (did not have much time yesterday) as he seemed quite open on giving feedback from Struer.

Welcome to BeoWorld petz! And thanks for your information. Dealers are usually a little quiet about items they get to see in Struer, but sometimes you can squeeze out some interesting details. All I can say is that there better well damn be a CD drive on the $20k - $40k BeoSound 5, otherwise B&O really can keep the one I may have even considered buying! I can buy a 500GB external memory drive for £80 at PC World stores, sorry! But I really really cannot believe BeoSound 5 would not have a CD drive. I think this might be another question Lee should be asking the boss tomorrow!
