    Beomaster 1900 technical problem

    Hello all,

I'm having a problem with my Beomaster 1900. It has worked fine for many years, the today in wile it was playing it abruptly shut itself off. When I went over to turn it back on, I touched the FM station preset, it lit up, began to unmute, then the moment I stopped tocuhing the pad it shut back off. Then, I kept touching the pad; it would light up, begin to unmute, then turn off, and repeat the behavior. A clicking could be heard each time it turned on or off.

I can do routine service work, and indeed did service work for Dual, Revox, Ampex, Nakamichi and Scully in the 1970s. So if someone could tell me what to check and give me some advice on troubleshooting the problem I can replace the failed components and get my favorite Beomaster 1900 running again!

Thanks in advance for your help!

You need to contact Martin (Dillen on site). He does component packs for this model. Although it is clearly impossible to diagnose down line, these models have a lot of red capacitors in them which degrade over the years. Those and variable resistors are the most likely components to fail. The service manual is on site for silver and gold members.
