I wonder if there is a possibillity to verify the age of a product on the basis of the serial number. I know that first to digits is productions year fex 09xxxxx is 1994, but what about older stuff fex from 1980?

Gah! - I meant to have a look at some 80's products today to get a clue but i forgot..

Anyone in the meantime?

I have A Beocord 5000 SN 30***** from 1985 and Beomaster 5500 SN 35***** from 1986 so I think yours is from late 1985 or early 1986.
