Hi All, First time poster, having been a B&O owner for all of 2 weeks now. I have bought a Beovision 7-40, with a Beolab 7.4 centre, Beolab 4000s as rears, and a pair of Beolab 8000s as front speakers. The problem is with the 8000s. The right speaker seems to be faulty; it remains at standby, no matter what I try. I've tried swapping the speakers over and so have ruled out wiring problems. With both speakers connected, they both stay at standby; if I disconnect the suspect speaker, the other one works fine. Sometimes, the faulty speaker status light goes green, but quickly goes red again. I presume there's some kind of inbuilt fault detection at work here that's switching the speaker off. This sounds pretty terminal to me. Is there anything I can try other than replacement under warranty?

Hi Simon welcome to beoworld It sounds to me like a cable fault, where the power on connection is short cut, tray and connect the the faulty speaker to the cable from the speaker thats works!

I have the same problem but with the entry "line". when the sound is low, the right speaker cut off and is red, the left speaker stay green. When the sound grow up, the right speaker became green and the music come.....

Hi all, Thanks for all your helpful replies. It's nice to know there's such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable group of B&O fanatics! I've tried playing with the L/R/Line switch on the faulty side. When I set the switch to 'Line', the speaker comes on; when I then set it back to 'R', the speaker works for a couple of seconds before dropping back to standby. I've not had a chance to swap the cables around any more (3 week old daughter taking priority!), but can anyone suggest a next step to try and isolate the fault? I'm thinking that it's definitely a wiring problem now... Regards, Simon.

Do you use the original sockets or were they soldered on place? When doing the installation, me an my dealer had a similar problem, and we found out that it was a socket that was faulty.
To me, it does not sound like there is something wrong with the speaker, it must be either cables or sockets.

Hi all,
Thanks again for the helpful advice. The powerlink cable plugs were soldered on by the B&O guys. I've had a confusing development, though... Last night, the speakers (which were previously stuck at standby) started working again. This sounds to me like a bad connection or solder joint somewhere, so I've asked (again!) for the B&O dealer to come and take a look. I'll keep everyone posted... Regards, Simon.

Hi all!
Found this old discussion and I have the exact same problem. The solution was never posted except that apparently it suddently seemed to work again for this lucky guy.
I'm using a Beoport with a pair of Beolab1 & 3's but my right beolab1 is staying in the standby mode. A few times it gets green for maybe 2sec before returning to the steady red light. Tried to change cables, moving the switches but all to no avail. It's been working perfectly for almost 2yrs
Any suggestions?

ok...thanks! Guess I got to get an engineer out to have a look at the thing. Of cause it has to be the beolab1 and not the beolab3 that breakes haha....it's way to heavy to carry down at the repair shop.
