    Avant 32 Fault

I have a RF 32" avant DVD that died today whilst watching the Grand Prix. The picture went red with lines then it poped through the speakers and picture and sound died.
It would not turn off and return to centre (display still showed SAT) I turned the power off and back on. The 2 link TV's work fine and the CD radio etc work ok through the Avant but, Sat and DVD do not.
I am no expert but I think it is the tube anything else it may be? also what would a new tube cost?

    Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to turn it on again?

Might not be the actual tube but possibly a power supply problem to the tube. I would suggest it needs a dealer to look at it! TVs are very dangerous to open up unless you know what you are doing!

If I try to turn it on it does the same thing again, I hope it is the power supply, must be cheaper than a tube. Is there any way to tell the diference between the two faults.
The Nottingham dealers said it would be about £800 to repair if it is the tube!! Seems a bit much, waiting for an alternative quote from lifestyle AV

If there is no sound and picture from SAT & DVD then I would be surprised if it is the tube unless there was an internal short which took down the HT supply. The rest of the set would continue to work because it would be using the low voltage sections of the power supply.

I think you need to get the dealer out to do some voltage checks, if it is the tube, he will properly have to order it anyway.

£1000 later! I now have my Avant back (really missed it as all the link sets and music was offline) They delivered it late afternoon Saturday, I thought I would give it a clean and noticed in daylight three marks in the centre of the screen on the coating (looks like the anti reflective coating is damaged) Grrrrrrrrrrr
Not looking forward to calling the dealer tomorrow, I hope they sort it as it definately was not there before, are the screens expensive/easy to fit? I don't want another week without my Avant!

Easy to replace - two screws underneath release the frame and 4 under this release the screen. Get the dealer to do it or he will think you damaged it. Is an on-site task.

In answer to your earlier question - yes - they're very expensive - over £200 for a new Coated Screen! Surprise
