    V8000 RF output

Is the "Link frequency" on the V8000 the RF output frequency? I have set this and then tried to tune it in on my LX4500 but nothing is recieved. I have also contacted B&O in Denmark about NTSC VHS tapes being played in black and White on this outfit (with the occasional flicker of colour on FF and initial play) and they had no answer! Scart leads have been checked as have both AV inputs. As I have said before the VX7000 and V6000 did not have this problem so why is the signal not being encoded in colour??

I think the V8000 does not have an RF modulator, it is made for TVs which already have one...

Unfortunately the LX does not have this. I don't particularly need a modulator (although it would be useful for sending round the RF loop to other TV's in the house) I wanted to see if the V8000 would give a colour picture via the RF. It is only black and white via Scart.

The modulator kan be enabled by pressing PLAY for 3 seonds, with no tape in it.

That's a perfect FAQ question and answer..

So, when it is activated, can the V8000 be connected to a MX or LX and be used to distribute the video of any sources to link rooms, like the VX7000?

To de-activate the RF modulator, is it the same?

Pressing play for three seconds removes the "link" option from the setup menu. The only way to get it back is to disconnect the deck from the mains, on reconnecting it then appears by default. I set the link frequency to 599/play. Then put in a tape, press Vtape/tv/goto/599 and get nothing. If the RF modulator is working I should get a picture. Correct?

    Hi

On a LX4500 you have to save 599Mhz on 40,41,42,43,44 or 30,31,32,33,34 when in TV mode, make sure AV1 and AV2 is set to none.

    Re: V8000 RF output

Thankyou for that instruction Stig. This does not appear to work like a conventional RF modulator. I used channel 31 and this picks up the signal after around 15 seconds, however every 30 seconds the signal is briefly stopped and started again and the TV displays TV31. The signal is lost if the AV scart is disconnected from the VCR! If the modulator is working should it not continue to display via the RF lead? Setting AV1 and AV2 to None/* means I have no remote control over the sources.I also still have the problem that the V8000 is playing NTSC tapes in black and white. Are there any adjustments I can make to the TV/VCR to make these appear in colour. The V6000 and VX7000 will do this. There appears to be a compatibility issue with the LX and this VCR. The V8000 is type 4609 s/n 15429677. I have another V8000 which does exactly the same and I tried it on a different LX.

    Re: V8000 RF output

The LX4500 software has to be (S/W) 2.1 or higher and the TV needs to be in OPTION 1.5

    Press: [TV] [STAND-BY] , [PICTURE] [1] [STORE] , [PICTURE] [5] [STORE]

You must connect the V8000 to AV1 (AV2 cannot activate the RF-output)

Do you have a Beocenter or a Beosystem?

If so, then it has to be connected to the LX4500 with a 7/7-pin DIN cable and then you can activate the V8000 RF-output by pressing [AV] [V.TAPE]

If you have a link room then you'll have to press [V.TAPE] and the RF-output will be activated automatically, so that you can watch the V8000 in the link room.

This works for me. I also own a LX4500 and a V8000 and these are connected to a Beosystem 7000.

    Hope it works for you.

    Re: V8000 RF output

Hi, Thanks for your comments. I do not have an audio system connected I want to simply provide an RF signal to feed another TV so I can watch a video tape in another room, Something I can easily do with other VCR's either directly from the menu or with the aid of a small screw driver to select the desired channel output! The LX4500 TV software is 2.1S and option 1.5 has been selected. V8000 is on AV1.In the TV's AV menu the V8000 automatically puts in it's own setting VTape-1 + * and on AV2 VTape2/new is selected for a DVD1. Link Frequency is set to 591 and TV31 is stored freq 591. Result: no picture. After a few moments The TV changed to Channel 48 and said VTR LINK 2 but putting in 591 had no effect. The NTSC plot thickens... connecting the V8000 to a Beovision 9000 via a scart to DIN lead and I get a perfect colour picture! The LX appears to 'decode' this into Black & White.

    Re: V8000 RF output

You can also activate the RF-out by pressing [PLAY] for 3 seconds on the V8000. This can be done with the tape already playing. You don't need to take the tape out.

I also get a black and white picture when I connect a device which has a s-vhs output and connect it to a scart on the LX4500.

But s-vhs to s-vhs on the LX4500 gives a colour picture.

I read in the catalogue of 2001 that the V8000 can play NTSC 3,58 and NTSC 4,43

    Re: V8000 RF output

Stange indeed. How about this: V6000 plays NTSC correctly on Beovision LX4500 but on Beovision 9000 it plays in black and white. V8000 plays NTSC correctly on 9000 but in Black and White on LX! This happens via Scart and RF. Explanations please! Finally sorted the RF. You were correct. Pressing play for three seconds does switch on the modulator (as pointed out by the setup guide). However, less obvious is the fact that this has to be done BEFORE allowing the V8000 to 'talk' to the TV.
