Is LCD coming closer to what we had in 1996 with CRT tubes? 100Hz issue

In 1996 B&O presented the 100Hz Beovision Avant, a milestone.

In 2001 the real flat tube CRT was introduced in the Avant RF and BV3-32, also a milestone.

One big LCD technology disadvantage is displaying movement, for example at sport motion and background motion. The sweep effect or so called ghosting effect. (On the positive side, LCD performs better in light surroundings compared to CRT and Plasma.)

    Sharp LCD 100Hz news:

New full HD panels are introduced by Sharp now and they offer 100Hz technology and a stunning 4ms response time. A Dutch magazine names Sharp to be the leadership LCD technology company. In bringing Full HD, 100hz and 4 ms together. Sharp improved the contrast ratio together with better black level. The Sharp Aquos XL1E and HD1E series with now 46 and 52 inch screen sizes. Also an AISA award: “The brilliant picture and the capability of representing dark colours perfectly, as well as the homogeneity of motions with the 100 Hz mode, are considered to be impressive features on their own merit,” according to the EISA jury’s evaluation”.

So again new technology is on its way…

BV 7 has 8ms response time, specs 2007

BV 8 has 6ms response time, specs 2007
