Re: Beo 5 Countdown- who get the first one...?
Hello, I'm also on top of my dealer waiting list, but I'm afraid he told me the Beo5 would not be in the shops before the end of the year... (Hope the year he was talking about is 2007) Greets from France, Laurent.
Avant 28 DVD, BC2, 2300, BL2500, 8000, to name a few...

Re: Beo 5 Countdown- who get the first one...?
I have a Beo 5 remote on order along with the new BeoVision 7-40 and 7-1 speaker. Looking forward to seeing and using the new remote although I am not entirely taken in by its design from photos posted. The Beo 5 remote goes against the grain of traditional remote design and it can be difficult to accept change. Having said that, this is the very essence of what I like about B&O so I have no doubt that soon after purchase I will enjoy looking at it and using it! Simon.

I'm really looking forward to receiving my Beo5. Yes, It is a totally different design to anything we've been used to and will take some getting used to. I was one of those lucky enough to have a play with one of these on our trip to Struer and it feels quite natural to use. You do realise that it can be dropped from a ten storey building and is 100% guaranteed to still work! Andy T.

I didn't know it could be dropped from such a height Andy. Its interesting that you mention how lovely it is to hold though. It doesn't suprise me being a B&O product though. Somehow you know, (or expect!) them to have 'done it again.' On the subject of remotes, I absolutely loved the BeoLink 7000 remote. What a totally awesome product that was. This epitomised the very essence of what B&O was all about. It was a product that defined new boundaries in design and then exceeded them in useability and functionality. I remember often going into B&O shops around 1992/1993 to simply watch the remote glide up and down when you put it on a flat surface. I was so addicted to B&O at that time and couldn't stop thinking about how amazing their products were. They were so far ahead of their competitors, by miles. I thought . o O ( At last... a company that is designing products with vision and without fear of conforming to everybody elses standards. ) They broke all rules and I could identify with them strongly. Such genius and perfection. So there we are, a little bit about me from those days! Its products like those (and all the other products in the range at that time) that started my obsession with this truly ahead of its time company. THAT is why I am so passionate about B&O and why I hope so much that they never let their standards drop. What a great company B&O are. (Slightly drifted off topic but enjoyed it immensely!)

Simon, I neglected to tell you that, although it will still work after being dropped from a ten storey building, it probably won't work after it lands. Avant televisions have the same proprties. Andy T.

Re: Beo 5 Countdown- who get the first one...?
I'm pretty sure the US will get the Beo5 later than Europe. So I'm out of the race before it begins. But I can't wait to hear and see y'all's opinions.
I've been meaning to ask, what does the acronym "SWMBO" stand for?
...my two cents

Looks like it could be a close run thing between you and Peter. I know he has one on pre-order. BTW - welcome back Ed - you've been sorely missed Hope your holiday was a good one. Chris.
