    A.Mem on BS4

I have a Beosound 4 and use the A.Mem function quite often to listen to my music on the SD card.

Now the last few days i am having following problem:

I do have different folders on the card, these contain 10-15 songs each. BS4 displays the names of the folders, everythig alright. But sometimes, it just stops playing after a song is over. So when i rotate the right control pad to jump to the next song, in the display i see how BS4 counts up. So for example last song in a folder was song number 10, then it stops after number 10 is played, but when i rotate the pad, then it counts up to 15 or so (but there are actually not more than 10 songs), after it realizes there are no more songs, it jumps to the next folder as it should and starts playing the first song of that folder. Now i do not know why BS4 just stops after the song sometimes. It's not always the same song, i already checked this.

My songs on the card are partially directly copied from my mac onto the card, the others where copied from a CD using BS4. I also have "repeat" activated.

So i don't know what i am doing wrong. It's just a little boring that after a few songs i find out that no more music is playing and i have to skip forward manually in order to have the music continuing.

Me too. I think its the Mac (I have a Mac too). I thought it could be temp files that the BS4 could see ???.

On my current SD Card I play tracks up to say 50 then it counts to track 101 then continues to play again. Its always done it for me especially if its a compilation, funnily it doesnt if I make an folder with a single CD I've imported.

The same SD card in my BeoSound 3 will do just the same. So its the info on the card that seems to be the problem. I blame the Mac.

I don't think the files itself are a problem, because this also happens with files that BS4 created.

But i will have a look at the sd card, perhaps there are hidden files that Mac OS places on it that irritate BS4. I will keep you updated.

Okay, i did examine the sd card contents just before. There are those .DSstore files that are not visible on it. One in each folder, and one on the card itself.

But as they are in each folder and i do not have the problem with each folder, i don't think that they cause the problems. Perhaps it's something with the songfile anyway.

Deleting those .DSstore files does not really work, as soon as i delete one, another is created instantly.

    Re: A.Mem on BS4

I find that if I import a CD with iTunes then copy to SD card I don't get this problem?

It only happens with tracks from other sources. I think. Maybe thats the key?

Where are you getting your Mp3's from?

All different. Some downloades, some importet into iTunes from CD, others recorded onto sd card from BS4's CD.

What i did now is formating the sd card using BS4, than i put all the songs onto the card again. Now it seems to work better, at least for the moment.

It's possible that the files you're talking about were encoded using the ffmpegx encoder, which has a tendency of not putting an index in the audio (audio can still play fine like this, but it causes issues with players not knowing where the start and end of the audio is).

Importing/converting with iTunes would solve this problem as it doesn't use the ffmpegx library.

    Re: A.Mem on BS4

The thing is though that if I copy 50 tracks then all 50 track will play. However the BS4 will lets say, skip tracks 40 to 49 but play them as track 50 to 59.? I've also tried copying them to a newly formatted SD card and it still does the same. I've got used to it now but would still like to know why.

    I still blame Mac Wink

As i have all my songs on my mac in AAC i had to encode to MP3 using iTunes, so i think that's not the problem in my case. The CDs that were ripped by BS4 also can not be the problem, as BS4 itself encoded those tracks.
