Another reason to like the BS3

My wife left my just over a year old BS3 on the back patio the other night.  Needless to say, it rained... a lot!!!. Storm Probably got an inch of rain.  Ohhh Nooo!!!  Super Angry  I turned it upside down and couple drops came out of the aerial hole.  Wiped it off.  Wiped my tears. I let it dry out for a week.

Crossed my fingers, turned it on...  YES!!!  it works!!! Party!!! Now after a week of regular use, I see no ill effects.  It all works exactly like it did before!

    Thank you B&O.

    Stan

Lucky!!  Probably one of the best products to leave in the rain apart from an outdoor link eye box! Laughing

I once had a customer who was devastated to find he had been burgled, and the burglar had scampered across his lawn with his BeoSystem 6500 only to find it damn heavy.. in fact too heavy to carry.

He then ditched it on the lawn.  Good news - if it hadn't then poured down all night.  He wasn't as lucky as you Stan, it sparkled like a firework show even after 5 days in a hot room!

How sorry was your wife by the way during that week?

Sounds like it just needed a good washing out, but I think I'll keep mine inside just the same.

    Quite a testimonial, nonetheless.

as it keeps raining over here, I'll try that out with my BS3 too.Geeked it really is very robust. mine fell down the nighttable and it has not one single mark or scratch. Incredible!

Hm, sounds really good about the build quality of BS3. I also plan to buy a BS3 soon, to have sound on the balcony, and also to use it as my wake up alarm.

So i am not sure i read about a thing in BS3, it was that if you set an alarm, BS3 will play at highest volume when the alarm goes off. Is this still the case?

no Daniel, that is not right. You can set a volume, at witch the BS3 will switch on (alarm or manually), and then the volume will always be same. IIRC, that memorised volume can't be superior to 30 (50 being the maximum volume)

I too just read this post and was intrigued to find out why you would put a BeoSystem 3 outside! I'm considering a BeoSound 3 as a replacement for an aged Sony clock radio - does anyone use it principally as an alarm clock/radio and what are your experiences?

I use mine as an alarmclock and to listen to music before falling asleep with A8s plugged in. The sound is superb considering the size of the unit, the handling is easy as soon as you get used to it.

But there are some functions that should be improved:

    • you have to reset the alarm every day, it does not switch on automatically at the same time every day
    • the sleeper function (automatic switch off after a certain time) is only available with radio, not with a-mem

Thanks tom, so it seems this was some bad units that had this bug. So i think BS3 is quite the right thing for me then

Okay, too bad no sleeptimer with A.Mem, but radio does his job as well i think.

Thanks Tom - does it have a snooze function and if so would it take some stretching to use this as a bedside alarm clock?

yes, it has, and I love it, I use it every morning. If you touch any button of the BS3 within the first 10 seconds after the alarm switches on, it will let you snooze for 10 minutes, as often as you like/ can.
