    Beosystem 6500 with multiple CX100´s?

    Hey.

My first post at what seems a very fine forum indeed.

I have a 6500/5500 white system with original B&0 furniture:

    Beogram 5500

    Beocord 5500

    Beomaster 6500

    Beogram 6500

    + two CX100 speakers

I´d like to add a Cona sub to this setup (should not be any problem, I´ve been told), but would like to add a second pair of speakers (CX100 but no sub) in another room (approx. 8-10 meter away from Beosystem). Is this possible with out Beolink? The Beomaster 6500 seems to have two speaker outputs.

BTW: Anyone using an Apple Airport Express with their Beo system (wireless Airtunes music)? Which input (ie. an aux input) should I use on the Beomaster 6500?

    Regards,

    Frederik

Simply run the speaker cables from the Spk2 socket to your other room and whatever you are hearing in the main room will be in the second room as well.

    Regards Graham

Re: Beosystem 6500 with multiple CX100´s?

Just been offered a Cona + second pair of CX100´s. Also some link products, but what do I need for controlling two sets of speakers (volume) individually? Are there different link products, and can the Master Control Panel 6500 use/control via link?

    best regards,

    Frederik

    Hi,

I've chosen to use TAPE 2 for my Airport Express unit, though you can also use AUX. As far as I understand, there's no difference in how the Beomaster handles the signal through these inputs. In some setups you want to use AUX for an MX television, and then using TAPE 2 is convenient.

Very pleased with the sound I'm getting with this setup.

To have independent (almost) volume control you need an MCL system with MCL2AV (w Transceiver) and MCL2P plus MCL Cabling. MCP6500 works fine in a a link setup.

If you chose to just use speaker two for the second room, 'Mute' will not mute the second speakers, only the ones in the main room.

    Alright, thanks mate. Nice one!

Is this one on eBay cool (the transceiver isn't stated to be included though - was it an extra option back then)?

    Hi fellow!

That is an (old) Xtra TV -kit which uses the IR unit of a B&O television set instead of the separate Transceiver. It would work fine but you need the Transceiver though. The Transceiver was not really an option, it was included in the Xtra Active Speaker Kit. The MCLAV unit is the same in both versions. You do not need the power supply mentioned if you have the MCL2P, only the appropriate cable (two wire) to connect the units.

Alright, Mico. Cheers for the kind reply. Not too sure about all those link system (and I´m from the land of B&O - LOL). Just bought my second set CX100´s, so at one point I´ll need to be able to control the two speakers sets individually. Would I then need both the MCL2P and the MCLAV? Not too sure about the difference of the two, to be honest. :)

Re: Beosystem 6500 with multiple CX100´s?

    HI!

Yes, to have an independent control you need bot the MCL2AV and MLC2P. This gives you the possibility to connect additional sources to the system in the link room as well. These could be a cd player or ipod for instance.

I survived more than ten years without independent volume control, this required just MCL2A's. With the MCL2A you have a "digital independent control" meaning on and off  in separate rooms individuallyYes - thumbs up

    hey Mico,

thank you so  much for you in-depth and kind replies. Much appreciated, mate! I´ll look into a MCL2A. Should I be looking into a specific model of the MCL2A?

This one on eBay, would it be cool?:

That would be perfect, it even includes a short MCL-cable and the plugs which will be connected to the Speakers 2 connection of the BM.

    Cheers!
