BC 6000 cannot register to Base

Hi, just got home to install my new Beocom 6000 with PSTN base.

Install in exactly the ame telephone socket where my old Beocom 2 base was installed.

Nothing happens. Handset cannot find base.

I have followed the instructions to pusch that little thing on the base to make it open for registration.

    Any hints?

I am assuming you are talking about the new version PSTN base ?

Whilst the Beocom 6000 could not find the base, can the Beocom 2 find the base ?

The Beocom 2 is with the dealer for upgrade :-(, so I cannot check.

Would the handset register to the base if the socket to the telephone line was unplugged?

It should still register the handset if the base is not connected to the phone line.

When we say base, what type do you have ? if it looks like the following picture then the software in the Beocom 6000 must be at least at version 2.5 to work correctly

    Mark II Beoline

    Beoline PSTN S

Got it from the dealer today, so I guess I need to go back there tomorrow.

I think you certainly do need to go back to your dealer, the unit you have described went out of production some years ago.

    Case Closed!

Had the base replaced at the dealer today. No fuzz. (I was just happy that it was not me that did something wrong)

Works like a charm now. Looking forward to adding my Beocom 2 as second handset, when it arrives form upgrade next week.

    Cheers / Claes

PS I´m not too sure that the base you mention is actually sold in Sweden. DS

The way my dealer explains it is, since I have an old Beocom 2, it would not function with the newest base.

Not even after the SW upgrade my Beocom 2 they are performing now.

    Makes sence to me.

I hear what you say, but the dealer has made the buying decisions for you.

In my view he should informed you of all the options available and allowed you (the customer) to decide what you wanted.

As you apparently have a Mark II Beocom 6000 you would benefit from the newer base for things like CLI (Caller line indentification)

Clearly if you are happy that's fine.

CLI actually works fine with this base...

Re: BC 6000 cannot register to Base

I think the dealer did the right thing, actually, given the input.

    What I had:

Old Beocom 2, with the charger and base combined in one unit. I used only as a base since I have a wall charger.

     What I wanted:

Add a Beocom 6000 handset as second handset, and being able to do internal calls and share phone book. Wanted to keep my old Beocom 2.

    What I got:

Dealer traded in my old base. Gave a good offer for an S/W upgrade of my Beocom 2, a  Beocom 6000 handset and a new base (even though I did not get the very latest, because then I would need to get a new Beocom 2 handset.) .

    Cheers/

Is it possible to upgrade an old version PSTN base to 2.5? I have a Beocom 6000 MKI and I would like a few others but new so MKII. (It works with the serene phonebook)

How do I know which software version it is?

If I know what to do I can buy a few sets and let the upgrade be for free Embarrassed

Re: BC 6000 cannot register to Base

With a MK2 handset, you can see which software is on your base, but I don't think you can with a Mk1.
My Serene shares it's phonebook with my Mk 1 setup.
