Grand Prix Moderne 609 K repair

    Hello at all,

I'm writing from Venice - Italy.
I acquired some days ago in Denmark a wonderful Grand Prix Moderne 609 K.
I wait for nearly 2 years in order to find it.
Now I'm repairing the final stage of the left channel that does not work.
    I need a little aid.
The posterior panel lacks me. Someone can send an image to me made with scanner therefore I can construct another equal?
Someone can sell to me the plug that goes inserted income of the Turnable inputr? Evidenced in yellow in the photo.
Someone can sell the handbook/owner manual to me in English?
    Thanks for the aid.

    Hello Lee,

thank you very much for your information.

Because I'm a newbie of the forum, what I must make to contact Frede? Have you his email address or his Beoworld nickname ?

If I upgrade my account I will find the Grand Prix Moderne 609K owner manual on the User & Service Manuals section?

Re: Grand Prix Moderne 609 K repair

    Nice radio !

I never saw any english language user manual for this one and I don't even have the danish one.
I have a couple of backsides from scrapped sets but none for this model.
I am pretty sure that I have this model in my collection though but it may
be out of easy reach, packed in a storage box among hundreds of other boxes.
I will try to find it and see if I can take a photo of the backside.

The 3-pin plug for the turntable will be a bit hard to find.
I take it that you are looking for the plug that goes on the turntable signal cable and not the one mounted on the radio chassis (which I may be able to locate).
I have a B&O turntable for sale though with the correct plug mounted.
The deck is the type 608VF (with the old counterweight and built-in RIAA preamp). Interested, drop me a PM.

While you are in there, do yourself and the radio a favour and
replace the 6 blue axial electrolytic capacitors located at
the output stage board (the vertical board holding the 4
output valves which seemed to be missing when the photo was taken).
Mounted just above the output valves, these caps are in a fairly
stressed location, I recommend you fit 105deg components.

This is the Grand Prix Moderne 608.
Not exactly the same as your 609 (different plug locations etc) but the style is correct :

Thank you for yours very important and precise indications.
This unit is very beautiful (at least for me that I have tried it for years)
The only defect is that it does not have a FM Stereo Decoder.
I have repaired the final stage (the hoof of the first ECL86 had been crushed) and now all works perfectly.
The polarization voltages are corrected but I will replace however the capacitors, you given a good suggestion to me.
I connected the DVD player to ithe DIN plug for the Beocord (on the pin without 2,2 Mohm resistors).
Now I understand because the level of the volume remains low if I listen a CD, the 608VF was preamplified, while the exit of the DVD Player is only 200 mV.
    Now I rebuild the backside.

If someone need diagram or photo for this machine I will be happy for being useful.

Hello Dillen, have you received my email?

I'm interested to buy the  608VF for the cable and the 3-pin cable.

Can you tell me the price?
