BS3 software upgrade. Is it difficult?

Our Service Centre in Melbourne say that a software update from 2.7 to 3.1 for the BS3 would not make an Apple TV remote controllable unless specifically added into the list during the upgrade. Is upgrading the software difficult? Does 'the list' not get transferred for selection and appear like that of the STB listing? I'm trying to make the process as simple and cost effective as possible, and don't really want to unplug all the cables and lose the BS3 for two or three days (every time to upgrade) ...

yes thats true, but when they already has the BS3 plugged to a PC it only takes a minute to update the puc (stb) also... I don't know any thing about the appel tv, some people in here says it can be controlled so I think it can...

Re: BS3 software upgrade. Is it difficult?

It is easy as long as you follow the on-screen instructions on the laptop (plug in/out, power up/down when the computer tells you to - do not add common sense, then you will have to start all over if you are lucky - which is the reason why dealers do not let you take their service computer home). But it would be pretty straight forward for an average BeoWorlder... it is so much easier than unplugging and returning a product to the dealer.

Re: BS3 software upgrade. Is it difficult?

do we still have to hand it in to a service shop to get the SW upgraded or someone been able to get hold of software and patches so It can be done ourselves?....its a lot of hassle to get them updated each time....

    Cheers

Re: BS3 software upgrade. Is it difficult?

I would have thought that the dealer will perform this upgrade for you, as it only takes a small amount of time (when my BV7-32 was HD upgraded, they had to perform a SW update, which took less than 20 minutes, if I can remember). You could either pay your dealer to visit you or, if you ask nicely, they may send someone round at their convenience.

I'm wondering what is updated in the BS3 4.0 SW update? Anyone know?
