Are they or do they really exist in 2 different types (and who knows the difference(s) ) ?

I own this product and I also own the user manual. On the front page: BEO - TR26 and on the label of serial no. on the set and an identical label in the user manual: S 1082 - BEO 610 - no. 661677.

So the BEO 610 = BEO TR 20  --- this is certenly the same product.

It's in my collection too and I have the servicemanual which gives the radios
name as BEO 610 (suggesting production year 1964).
The name "TR26" is not mentioned in the service manual and does not tell the number of transistors in the set as I've read somewhere.

The TRxx numbers was something B&O tried on to number the exact versions of their early transistor-based radios, I believe.
It can be seen on some early Beolit portables too.
The earliest versions of Beomaster 900 (and Master 610K) are sometimes mentioned as "S293" or similar.
I think the 4 digit type numbers as we know them today substituted this system at a very early stage.

interesting, actually i have a pile of them (about 5) sort of stashed away here and there but i can't recall seeing either the number 610 or TR26 on it, hence my question (as on this site they seem to have it as 2 different products....).

In a few weeks i should get more space in the house and will dig up all these old things and also have a closer look (for sure one of these should have the diagram in it....).

i'm not sure if i asked this on the English forum yet ( i did in the Dutch section, no reply) but do you know what was the idea behind this radio, it looks kind of ''out of range'' of other B&O products and i think it has some strange shortwave bands on it, was it intented for fishermen or so ??

If anyone would like to write some product descriptions for all these old radios, please do!!

Yes, it was made for use on boats etc. therefore the extended AM (especially shortwave) coverage and battery operation.
