VX7000 or V8000, pros and cons

    Hi there

I think we had this talk on the old forum, but I don't remember it exactly. So, which VCR should I chose for my MX6000 (BL 1000 version)? I suppose the VX series is the most advanced, on the other hand the V8000 got a longer lifetime left before repairs.

    Thanks

    Chr.

I might be wrong but I think the choice would probably be VX7000 as it's two way (some models) as is  MX6000. Incredibly good stills aswell.
I've no experience of V8000 so I'm a bit biased.

Thanks, I'll think about it. Where are you located?

It is interesting that the VX models are cheaper than the V8000, although the original price of the VX models were colossal!

I have myself a V8000, will recommend you go for this. mine is 8 years old works perfect..

It's hard to get spare parts for the VX7000, and it's power consumption in st.by is min. 10W Surprise the youngest is 12 years old...

    best regards

Re: VX7000 or V8000, pros and cons

I wrote a detailed comparison on the old forum, pity its gone.... In summary (I still use both)

VX7000: Heads no longer available but are heavy and serviceable in most cases. excellent unit, slow rewind, good recording clarity, has some problems with intergration in newer TV's, good tuner, some support for active only recording (i.e security camera), supports tape electronic labeling.

VX8000: Heads still available, lightweight and easier on components, better recording clarity, software update to 3.1 (STB and other features), slightly better internal tuner, fast rewind, smaller width than VX7000, newer unit, about double the price of the VX7000.

Both support the BL1000 though the VX7000 fits the width of the MX6000.

    Beoaus.

My VX7000 sold just the other day on Ebay for only £20. That was a two way version as well.

Re: VX7000 or V8000, pros and cons

I found my VX7000 in Struer. Thank's to the old site I found out it was a 2 way version. For a Beovision LX5500 that was perfect.

It was fixed at the B&O factory as the eject function had broken.

It works very well with the LX. Only con must be no S video and the auto tracking maybe a bit annoying when putting in a new tape. Age? well it is still a great VCR and will last many years to come. I think longer than the term VHS LOL.

The LX and VX works great together. Really trouble free and pure good picture/sound quality. As good as it can be for the format.

If one sugestion should be said. Make sure its a working unit! I mentioned to my dealer that I had bought a VX7000 and he went Oh no. Its working great I quickly replied.

    VX7000 vs V8000

    1. The VX7000 is a much more radical looking device.

    2. The V8000 is much more practical as the rewind speed is far faster.

    3. I have both - the VX looks much better, but I use the V8000 as it works!! I do however also have a AV9000, which uses a VX7000 internally!

The B & O store in Bournemouth had some brand new V8000s available last year for about £375 iirc? I bought a new one from my local store in Bristol for that price and i am very pleased with it...and it came at the time with a 4 year warranty too.

Thanks for all the replies, as always helpfull.

VX7000 does come up on DBA.dk at bargain prices, so if I can find one in working order at a good price, I'll get that one.
