Monitor audio speakers???

I posted a post yesterday (B&O compared Marantz???) about my brothers new sound system which made him snub my B&O!! Devil

Now I know that he has Monitor Audio speakers with it. How do they rate? From their website it seems they only sell passive speakers. They use wood vinyl on their speakers Surprise . Surely they aren't in any league to B&O? He must also only have connections for passive speakers on his Marantz?

Monitor Audio have actually made some very very nice speakers, but I think they're even less well balanced overall than B&O when it comes to build quality/design vs sound when compared with other companies.
