Hi: As Peter has suggested you can just use any piece of metal. Check your local telephone directory and look for a metal shop. You can buy pieces of finished anodized brush aluminum and have them cut it to size for you. I'm not nearby my 8000 system but perhaps Peter or other owners can give you the exact dimensions of the plate. I recall that the 6000 series had a black lid. If that is the case you don't even need to buy annodized. Just get stock aluminum, sand the surface with steel wool, and carefully give it a light coat of a flat matt black spray paint. If you have a steady hand you can get a very even and professional looking finish. If not, bring it to an auto paint/detailing shop with a case of guiness; I'm sure the guys there would be happy to help you out. Then if you really want to be authentic, get a sheet of Lettra Set rub on transfer from a drafting supply store and print Beogram 6006 across the cover. This is easy to do; place the transfer sheet over the metal surface, take a pencil and gently rub over it and the lettering will transfer to the cover. Finally use a can of matt photographic lacquer from a photo supply house and give it a light spray. This will prevent the letters from rubbing off. With patience you can get things to look very professional and authentic. B&O no longer carries this panel as a replacement. Derek

thanks for all your help! the lid on the 6006 was silver with a black part on the back... 2 pack epoxy seems to be the right stuff here, as the connection from the lid to the hinge should be sturdy. @chris: that would be absolutly great!! i had no hope at all, that i would ever get this part!! i´m really impressed by the turntables technical side and i´d love to bring it back to a good shape on its cosmetic side as well... so if you should find a spare aluminium lid, just send me the details about the prize and shipping costs for it... so thanks once again to all! jens

Hi Jens, no luck I'm afraid - I did have one some time ago (from a beogram 8000) but it may have been given to somone else with some other parts Sorry Chris.

Just found it its in very good condition with Bang and Olufsen of Denmark in the top right hand corner. Very fine scratches on it hardly noticeable just needs to be glued to the plate. I have also found the whole 6006 lid with the perspex lid and metal plate in situ next to it as well as the plate previously mentioned. Let me know what you need. Andy

hi andi! that´s really nice of you! you´re right... also i only could bring back to life many of my b+o due to help from some tech wizards on this forum... also i have some spare bits for different vintage b+o on my shelf, but as you´ll probably never have just the right part you need at one moment, it´s great to have a community, where you you can share and exchange (hardware as well as experience...) i`ll pm you my adress. so thanks alot and if you should be in need of bits and pieces, don´t hesitate to ask!

Welcome to Beoworld ! I never had to remove the platter surround to service a Beogram of this type, what kind of service are you thinking about ? Martin

Yes, the little spring is for grounding of the platter surround. You can get some nasty static shocks if not mounted correctly. Martin

thanks for your help! i´ve already glued the lid (which i got by andyt...for free! thanks again!) and the platter surround back to its place using 2 pack epoxy glue... should be fixed now for the next century... now the beogram looks again as it should, very nice machine, in technical terms as well as designwise. the little spring under the alu plate is still at its place, so no danger if the beogram should be hit by lightning....

I did a complete cleaning of the unit and set up the tonearm. I
figured that I might need to access it at a later date, so I used the
sticky tack rather than foam tape, and it really works well. <>It's
a great pleasure to be a part of these forums. I am a recent collector,
and currently have a Beomaster 5000, Beocord 5000 and a CD50 all
controlled by a MCP5000, all eBay finds. I am enjoying all of them, and
was able to get some valuable information from this site. I have a
number of other peices as well, and will eventually have some set up in
another room.
