What remotes can I use to replace my BEO04?

    Hello, I'm new!

We have a Avant 32 DVD.

My remote has stopped working (stuck on 'TV') which appears to be a common age-related problem with this remote. I can of course buy a used version on ebay but then, how long would it also last?

    It looks like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/B-O-Bang-and-Olufsen-Beolink-1000-Copy-Remote-Control-/300667578662?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_Video_RemoteControls&hash=item46012f2926#ht_500wt_922

Could work? Its for the BEOlink 1000 remote however the BEo04 is the same but with additional LCD display and foil? Or any other tips?

We have a 2yr old son who I also suspect emptied his water bottle onto the remote (its on the radiator in dry rice at the moment) so I'd rather go for a cheaper option if he does get hold of it again...

    Help!

Hello and welcome to Beoworld Smile

No way I would exchange a Beo4 with the named plastic remote from ebay !

I think I will have a similar problem with our son in the future. I would buy a pre-owned Beo4 and put it away of your son's reach. This is what I will do.

I bought all my Beo4s pre-owned and they now last for 7 years. A thing you won't expect from that cheap plastic remote.

    Regards

This is what he did to our other TV (6month old TV!)   So I'm in damage-limitation....hesitant to spend too much!!

A (real) Beolink 1000 would serve you well, I think. It is also quite water resistant.

"This is what he did to our other TV (6month old TV!)"

Keep all the kit and change the child!

Seriously, when my children were young I had top flight hi-fi stuff, B& O TV and they never went near it all because they were taught to keep away from it all - and they did!. It's all about setting boundaries of behaviour.

Having said all that, my daughter has clearly not continued this practice as my 2 year old grandson (remember 2 years old) was given a tablet (electronic type!) at Christmas which he smashed within hours. He has his own Apple iphone on which he plays games. Of course he also has a flat screen TV and DVD player in his bedroom.

I'm clearly an old fossil with my attitudes.

Finally, the Beo4 is a very sturdy unit and I would take it apart and clean and dry it all from the inside out.

I tried this, took out the 4 screws, popped off the back but unless I seperated the soldering I couldn't disemble anymore?

Under these circumstances I understand why you won't spend much money on a new or pre-owned remote like a Beo4.

But what will you do ? You can put a remote out of your son's reach, but not the TV or other heavy things.

It's a bit late, but what about one of these?
