    Beomaster 901

    Hi everybody,

i bought some months ago a BeoMaster 901. Right now i do have a problem with the volume regolation.

The right chanel work fine but the left one is not working properly. The volume is really low till around 6 on the scale and then start to work properly. What could it be?

    Thanks,

    Roberto

look here and here, may be only your volume slider, but why not do it all, when open

Below the black wheel is the volume potentiometer, check that, and is your balance slider working properly

The balance slider is working properly... sometimes the volume is good on both of the channel, sometimes it is not working.

I suppose it is due to the potentiometer, but i do not know how to check it...

    Re: Beomaster 901

If you dont know how to check a potentiometer, and dont have a multimeter or know how to use it, I think its better for you to find a good repairshop or friend who can help you, on the forum we are very glad to help, but a failure like in your 901 may be more than just a poti, and without any knowledge of electronics, you may do more harm than good by trying to do it yourself.

    Kind regards Soren

Actually i do know how to use a multimeter and i could borrow one... but i have never tested a potentiometer. should i follow the response in voltave of the output while im acting on it?

    Re: Beomaster 901

Okay, find 2R127/2, looks like in the pic, before disassampling your 901 be sure to disconnect from mains. Without power, connect your multimeter at the red arrows and measure ohms, move the volume slider slowly from side to side while observing your ohm reading, if it stays same while moving, if it jumps while moving, or shows more than 20 ohms, the poti is bad or dirty. Look on the other side of the poti, you will see the same 3 legs connect to the middle leg and the left or right leg, same procedure here. You may have luck to clean it with an electronic spray cleaner, but it may go bad again, as these cleaners normaly only shift the dirt around.
