Needs help to connect Beosound Ouverture & Beolab 3500.

    hello all

I’m new in this forum, I love B&O appareil, so I’ve buyed some used one (beovision Avant, bs ouverture, beolab 3500 & some beocom ) to try, gradually, to make a nice integrated system.

Now I have a problem with my BeoLab 3500 & my Ouverture.

Let's see if I can explain the problem with my bad English.

I have my Ouverture connected to my BeoLab 3500 with a Masterlink cable and the result is ...disappointing.

I’m using the beo 4 remote to control “the system” but…I cannot control anything.

I’ve finished to connect cables and I’ve turn on the system, the clock time appears on the display of BeoLab, but via beo 4 it’s impossible to turn on the music, the overture respond to commands...but not transmit music to the BeoLab.

Magically, pressing the physical button to the right on the BeoLab  3500 the radio turn on & the music came out from the speaker but…trying to using again beo 4: the overture it’s able to change the music source (radio, cd tape) but does not allow changing the volume, turning off the overture from the remote control the clock reappears on BeoLab.

I tried different settings (A.opt & L.opt)... but I have not accomplished anything.

anyone have any suggestions for me?

Thanks in advance and sorry again for my bad English

    John

Hi John and welcome to the forum!

Is the Avant also connected to the set up via ML?

Are the OT and 3500 in the same room?

Re: Needs help to connect Beosound Ouverture & Beolab 3500.

Look for option settings: ouverture option 0, beolab 3500 option 4 (not sure).

Search the forum for how to set options with your remote.

    Found this thread!

Re: Needs help to connect Beosound Ouverture & Beolab 3500.

Set the whole system to standby.

If all products are in the same room set:

    Ouverture: A.OPT 0

    Avant: V.OPT 1

    BL3500: L.OPT 5

The concerning LEDs should flash shorty when you set the options.

    Hope this helps.

Tried settings described in Stefan post...not work  LEDs flashed shorty in Avant & ouverture but not in beolab.

    ...!no result|

I have to go to the dealer b&o?

p.s.: No dealer in my city! just 1 in all my region.

Re: Needs help to connect Beosound Ouverture & Beolab 3500.

    Hello,

If I understood your installation correctly:

Avant and Ouverture in one room and NOT connected by Masterlink

BL 3500 in another room ML connected to Overture

    The Option setting should be:

    Avant: V_OPT 1

    Ouverture: A_OPT 1

    BL 3500: L_OPT 5 or 6

Do You have speakers connected to your Ouverture. If not, it could be that the Ouverture defaults to A_Opt 0

In this case you should to ML it to the Avant:

    Avant: V_Opt: 2

    Ouverture: A_Opt: 0

    BL 3500: L_Opt 6

Hi, before trying link settings etc, did you make the masterlink cable yourself? If so it's very easy for one of the cables to not make a clean connection causing all kinds of issues.

Can you try a different masterlink cable? This will ensure that the connection between the two units is not at fault.

    Regards,

    Cal

Re: Needs help to connect Beosound Ouverture & Beolab 3500.

Did you use LINK OPTION for your BL3500?

    Must be L.OPT 5.

If this doesnot work disconnect the BL3500 fromm the mains for 2 minutes, reconnect and try again.

If this doesn´t work disconnect Masterlink from BL3500 and try L.OPT setting once more.

If this doesn`t work, check ML cable as Cal already said.

    Ouverture: A.OPT 0

    Avant: V.OPT 1

I've tried to use LINK OPTION for BL3500 but seems not working even I've tried the procedure recommended by Stefan (connect & disconnect etc.)

Tried to check cable, I've buyed & not make the masterlink cable from myself...they work perfectly connecting ouverture to Avant.

evrithing seems to be perfect but...not work!

    bah!

Mysteries of the high tech up to date or slightly exceeded!

How old is your Beolab? Did you buy it second life? Maybe its an LCS9000 and not a BL3500. Could be set to MCL...(?) So it won`t respond to ML.

Re: Needs help to connect Beosound Ouverture & Beolab 3500.

    Thanks to Keith:

"Extract from my FAQ on the subject

When I purchased my LCS9000, I was told it could only be used with MCL (Master Control Link), is this true ?

No, All units from day one shipment had both MCL and Master Link, however on the LCS9000’s the masterlink socket was covered with a black plug which made it appear that it only had MCL.

To use the MasterLink you need to remove the black plug and enable it via a service menu command. To get into the service menu to switch between ML & MCL press MENU then MENU then 0 then 2 then PLAY, then use the up arrow to switch, then store"

You will see (hear) what happens...
