Power supply unit / transformer for a Beomaster 5000 (Type 2005)

    Hi Beoworlders!

I am newbie here and I must confess I have the serious B&O infection :-). It struck me like a thunder a short while ago (probably 6 Months ago). Everything started with the first Beomaster 2400. Now I own pretty nice collection of 60’s and 70’s B&O devices, some of them working, some of them waiting for a restoration.
Back to issue, for 2 weeks I bought nonfunctioning Beolab 5000 and Beomaster 5000 (Type 2005, the old one). Inspite of the Fact that it does not work, I had to have it! At first I asked me: Is it worth the trouble to rebuild? But the answer was: Sure!
Now, it will be repaired from friend of mine, I am not able to do these things. He made the first check with BM5000 und he detected the first Problem. The power  transformer is dead. Now we need this part and I want to ask you if anybody has it or if anybody know anyone who might have had this part?
Is it possible to change it with other transformer from other B&O device?

I would be grateful for any information on this issue!

    Best regards

I think the chaps to talk to hear are Frede & Martin, both members here. I would expect to pay quite a bit for a replacement transformer though!

    Hi,

Are you sure it is dead? It is extremely rare! I thought my Beogram CD transformer was dead, but there was a thermal switch (between the windings) which triggered (once it does, it is dead) because there was a shorted electrolytic in the power supply.

What has your friend tested so far?

    Hi!

    Thx for your tips.

I got also a massage from Martin.

We will try to identify if it is a power supply for 100%.

    I will inform you.

    Have a nice day
