    Re: Anyone into slide rules?

This thread made me remember one of my all time favorite junk antique store finds:  the fourth edition (fifth printing, 1946) of Jameson & Banks' Elementary Practical Mechanics.  This book, first published in 1909, was a text for a first undergraduate course in mechanical engineering and incorporates statics, dynamics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.  I found it for $4 in a little shop in Blue Ridge, Georgia, about an hour from the southern end of the Appalachian Trail.

I ran across the book this evening looking for something else.

For all you CURTA calculator aficionados, I give you the Charles Babbage Analytical Engine as shown in this month's Civil Engineering magazine.
