    BG8000 dead, displaying 0.0.0.0 ?

I have a Beogram 8000 which does nothing but display numbers "0.0.0.0" on display (and the cue arm light is on too).

Just a quick question, is this a known indication (error code ?) of totally fried microprocessor or could it be just bad cap/soldering which could be mended with a cap kit and resoldering ?

Not sure of that myself but as these units are known to be plagued with drys then it is definately a good place to start! I am sure Martin will be able to tell you immeadiately where the problem lies.

PM him as he is not able to post atm..

Let us know how you get on.

Indeed, he's the Master and so very nice to deal with too. Smile I haven't seen that on either my BG6006 or 8000, which were both DOA.

Caps and dry solder joints are always the starting points! Does the platter turn at all? A peeling tachodisc would also be worth checking on.

OK, its the caps and solder joints next, then.

Just thought to ask first as the "0.0.0.0" kinda looks like an error code! (when not even all segments are lit like "8.8.8.8"...)

Ordered a new tacho disc already from Martin!
