Older Beogram 2000 cartridge help needed.

    Hi,

Im newbie here. Just bought for myself 1974/75 Beogram 2000 without cartridge/stylus. According to my readings, an SP10, SP12 and SP14 will fit in. Im planning to get SP14 and just need a confirmation to proceed my purchase. Can't wait to get it runs again. It comes with Beomaster 901. The turntable cover also in good shape. I think its just nice for B&O beginner like me.

And one more thing, what is the function of tuning knob below the turntable? Left hand side if not mistaken. Wink

Welcome to Beoworld.  The dial towards the rear of the left side is fine adjustment for the motor speed.  Set the platter to run at 25 or 30 (cm) and using a filament lamp connected to the mains, observe the stroboscopic black dots around the outside top edge of the platter.  When they are seen to be stationary the speed is correct.  You can fine adjust the speed by turning the dial towards the + or - until the correct speed is obtained.

Mine is also fitted with an SP14 so you should be fine.

    Enjoy your new toys.

    You're welcome.

It will also probably benefit from a replacement drive belt as you won't know how old the current one is.  They are available particularly via the German eBay site, for example as in item 130490418720.  A clean and lubrication may also be necessary or beneficial.  There is plenty of info on this site for that e.g. DO NOT USE WD40!.  An upgrade of your membership will give you access to user and service manuals.

    Dave.
