Dear All

I was tilting my BM4400 slightly this evening to plug something in the back and accidentally grabbed the flimsy piece of veneer-covered chipboard on the rear left hand side which promptly snapped off.  SOB SOB!!!  The unit is otherwise in completely mint condition so it's even more annoying.  

Given the scarcity of 4400s, how easy do you think it would be to adapt a side panel from another, more abundant unit?  Obviously I'd need to cut it to match the sloping front aspect.  I suppose getting a colour match will be the biggest challenge (it's teak).  It also seems to be much cheaper-feeling material than on, for example, an earlier BM3000 I have which looks and feels like a solid wood covering, rather than a cheap, veneer-covered chipboard.  I wonder if a teak BM4000 might be a suitable source, though I guess these aren't that abundant or cheap.

I could glue the broken panel back on fairly neatly, but it's never going to look 100%, and, as I mentioned, the unit is otherwise completely unmarked.

Bright ideas and suggestions VERY welcome.

The whole veneer part of the receiver is one part and comes off with two screws from the back of the unit.

My Father had redone the veneer on my 4400 with rosewood, using the existing cover as template for cutting. Something similar could be done on yours

I bought from here a pack with a lot of diff. veneers, just to see what it was, its more or less same thicknes as the Beo veneer, maybe that can help you
